PopeWatch: Take Note

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

One of the most shameful assaults on the Catholic Church in history, actively coordinated by the hysterical US & Canadian media and by Canadian far left politicians and apparatchiks.
Hook, line and sinker.
CBS is going to run an interview with himself next weekend, if I’m recalling the promo correctly.
Women’s role in the Holy Catholic Church is one of the topics. It would be fascinating if this topic about the school was brought up and a public apology could be made, but my doubts override my hopes, unfortunately.
Still …. I pray for him.
There were reasons other than technology that popes before the modern era responded rarely to news events, responded slowly and hesitantly when they did so and ordinarily addressed the issue through subordinates. Had someone thrust a mike in the face of Pius XI or Pius XII, he’d have gotten a glare that would have thrown him all the way to Ostia. John XXIII, Paul VI and Benedict XVI would give a patient smile meaning “no comment”. John Paul II might offer sympathy briefly and deftly, then move on, but detailed comments (if any) came slowly and usually through channels. Francis is like a middle-school girl on social media for the first time (and without parental supervision). No filter.
@Tom – well said. Who needs the MSM to cheapen the Church, when you have the gift which is Pope Francis, that just keeps on giving.
