Presentism

Language advisory as to the above advisory.   Maher nails it, mostly. The absurd spectacle of the present condemning the past for not being the present is many things, but one thing it is not is history.

Bill has come a long way.

I stumbled upon a quote from one of St. Maximilian Kolbe’s writings.
I’m sharing it for very obvious reasons;

*It’s commonly said that agnosticism, religious indifference and moral relativism are the dominant modes and models of thought for the man of today…

We should carefully distinguish ordinary folk who seek God in sincerity of heart, who do good, struggle, work and suffer, from those who sow tares and project plans for a society based on rejection of moral values. The problem arises when these “spiritual delinquents” take control of education, of politics, of the media and shape public opinion, all in the name of an emancipation and a freedom indistinguishable from license. Many seek to convince themselves and others that God does not exist, even if they realize that all the scientists put together are incapable of giving life even to a miserable mosquito. Men may well be experts in so many areas of our culture, but as regards the purpose of their life and their relations with God, far from being advanced in philosophy they are behind everyone else.*

Fight like Heaven is the title of a 54 day Novena started by the Bishop of Lansing Michigan in an effort to stir mens/womens courage to speak up against Prop 3 which would alter Michigan’s Constitution, laying the foundation for licensing to kill innocent human beings up to birth if so-called practitioners decide that Jill has stress and is mentally troubled about the fetus that’s 8 months and twenty eight in her womb.

The ambiguity of the proposal is leaving many dangerous outcomes for children and doubts as to the importance of parental notification is evident. Couple that with sterilization and mutilation possibilities ushered under the Reproductive Rights for All and children, once again, are in the crosshairs.

…reproductive rights for all.

That is, unless you are a fetus.

Our diocese has adopted the Lansing effort for these next fifty plus days to beg God for a miracle.

Pure Michigan?

God, I hope and pray so.
