Ah “tolerance”, that “virtue” of cooperation and silence in the face of evil.
Seems to be just the opposite here … It’s the college
indoctrinatededucated who impose evil gibberish upon society and the simple who are forced to pretend lies are truth, evil is good and 2+2=5 or else suffer the consequences.“I acknowledge you, Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the prudent, and have revealed them to little ones.”
~ Matthew 11:25
Academic degrees and wisdom frequently do not walk hand in hand. On my worst days I have been living proof of that!
The big scholarship I applied for to my Jesuit college (back in 1999) required an essay extolling the “greatness of tolerance.”
While I was reliably liberal at that time, words still have meaning and my essay spoke of how we need to allow free speech of those we detest. As a consequence, when I came before the scholarship committee, it became my first experience in a Struggle Session. All that was missing in the public humiliation was the dunce cap. They condescendingly explained that “tolerance” meant accepting what *they* deemed acceptable whether I liked it or not.
Looking back, it was the true first crack in my armor beginning my shift in thought. Dostoevsky definitely had it pegged.
They condescendingly explained that “tolerance” meant accepting what *they* deemed acceptable whether I liked it or not.
People yelling the loudest for tolerance usually mean: Tolerance for me but never for thee.
Don,
Absolutely correct. Like everything else, there is the double standard. Modern day Pharisees.
