I don’t think professional or street-level Democrats react to this sort of thing in the way an ordinary person would.
You recall the situation three years bank. A large bloc of Democrats set up campaigns. These included three men who had prospered in entrepreneurial business (Bloomberg, Yang, Delaney), two men with experience both as business executives and public executives (Hickenlooper, Bloomberg), a state Governor who had a history of selling himself to a red state electorate. and a woman who really wasn’t qualified but was nonetheless and intriguing independent thinker (Gabbard). They paid no mind to any of them. The competitive candidates were Klobberherworkers, Fudgepacker Pete, Princess Spreading Bull, a gassy old Trotskyist, and Sundown Joe. It makes no sense.

But that can all be attributed to a publicly educated electorate.
