CNN Priest

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.

1 Corinthian 11: 23-29

Ah, our old friend, Leftist Priest Edward Beck ,is at it again. Whenever CNN needs a priest to bash Catholicism, Beck is on speed dial.  Go here, here and here to read about him.  Now his parishioners, I will take things that never happened for $200.00 Alex, are supposedly up in arms that pro-abort Biden may no longer profane the Eucharist.

“I had mass this morning, a few of them actually, and unsolicited, I can’t tell you how many people came up to me and were really upset about this,” said Father Beck. “I mean, across the political spectrum. And basically what they were saying was, you had a former president who checked none of the ‘life issue’ boxes for the Catholic church except that he said he would appoint Supreme Court justices that could overturn Roe v. Wade. And that’s all that seemed to matter.”

He also recalled Trump’s photo-op he did with the Bible after peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters were tear-gassed in Lafayette Square. He also recalled the times in which Trump appeared to make fun of Pope Francis.

“And then you have Joe Biden, a practicing Catholic, who is pro-choice, although he says he’s personally opposed to abortion, and people are talking about denying him communion,” Father Beck continued. “The reception of communion — people see it as really based in hypocrisy. I can’t tell you, some said this is the final straw for them. If the bishops go ahead with that, that’s it for them.”

Go here to read the rest.  Promises, promises.  Leftists are always threatening to leave the Church, as if they belong to the Body of Christ in any meaningful way.

One imagines all the TV appearances Judas would make after his betrayal if The Passion were occurring today.  Of course that is what is occurring.  At each Mass The Passion is re-enacted.  It is black letter Catholicism that unrepentant Catholics who have committed a mortal sin should not receive.  Being pro-life isn’t some sort of high, unattainable virtue.  It is basic morality, akin to being against cannibalism.  That politicians like Biden are in favor of child murder to gain votes, and priests like Beck eagerly defend this, tells you all you need to know about the lamentable state currently of Catholicism in this woeful period.

The MSM especially CNN and MSNBC are anti-Catholic channels. No good Catholic should listen to them. Both are evil and servants of the devil.

Exactly, Michael Dowd.

Abortion-promoting catholic “apologetics” are twisted.

The Lord rebuke them both: Fraudulent Biden and Father Nobody.

Imagine if you will the reactions of these how these nut jobs masquerading as lying liberal propagandists if an anti-Semitism apologist unearthed a 1941 German newspaper headline reporting that Hitler was “personally opposed” to the Holocaust?

Is he a Jesuit, too?

One simple truth.
We will never run out of misinformed, misguided and miserable white collar pretenders who follow not the guidebook they supposedly uphold and love.

Abortion is a non-negotiable.

CNN priest is in grave error.

Our too effeminate curate’s homily Sunday was a raw blast at the bishops for daring to consider “entering politics” using the pope as his cudgel who he said told the bishops, “don’t do it because it was too divisive”. It was a good thing that Christ never caused any division or they might have even crucified him or something bad. Will no one fashion a whip and drive these scoundrels out of God’s temple? The silently supported scandal alone makes it near impossible for any sane person to convince someone to enter the faith–the prime mission given by Christ.

“And basically what they were saying was, you had a former president who checked none of the ‘life issue’ boxes for the Catholic church…”

Of course what he means by this is that Trump didn’t support the far left plan for the expansion of government that “Social Justice Catholics” declare is mandated by Church teaching.

Don L,

I’d drive 100 miles each Sunday to not go to Mass celebrated by that priest.

Phillip,

This isn’t new. For decades, latter-day Judases have divisively argued and [effectively] said, “Jesus was wrong in not preaching conversion to Marxian socialism.”

Orwell, an atheist, was better informed than those people. From his essay on Gandhi’s passing, “Reflections on Gandhi.”

“But it is not necessary here to argue whether the other-worldly or the humanistic ideal is ‘higher’. The point is that they are incompatible. One must choose between God and Man, and all ‘radicals’ and ‘progressives’, from the mildest Liberal to the most extreme Anarchist, have in effect chosen Man.”

Other things that matter: the contours of law codes which displace or simulate canon law, the autonomy of the Church (and other congregations) to execute its institutional mission, and the liberty of institutions and persons to regulate their homes, businesses, and philanthropies according to their prudential judgment and moral precepts (a liberty that should go well beyond the niggling little carve-outs that David French fancies apposite). Characters like Beck evince very little interest in any of that, but will try to go to bat for any and every reprobate facing a capital sentence consequent to a heinous crime.

Ah, the Trump card. Did Trump ever attempt to receive Communion?

“Ah, the Trump card. Did Trump ever attempt to receive Communion?”
Exactly!
“Those Catholics who promote abortion are automatically excommunicated for two reasons. First, they have fallen into the sin of heresy by believing that abortion is not always gravely immoral (canons 751 and 1364). Second, these Catholics are providing substantial assistance for women to obtain abortions by influencing public policy to make abortions legal, and to keep abortions legal, and to broaden access to abortion. Those who provide such substantial assistance commit a mortal sin and incur a sentence of automatic excommunication (canon 1398).”

I’d drive it too, except our pastor usually says the early Mass with lots of Latin, solid liturgy and solidly Catholic homilies. We moved from our last parish 20 years ago from the same “Vat II, Newchurch” stuff.” I’m waiting to see if the Bishop responds to the curate’s homily or whether or not he, wink, wink, preapproved it.

Dunno about St. Thomas More. More like Franklin Roosevelt: a rogue, yes, but a rogue not hostile to the country’s heritage. The protestant idiom and a moral sense informed by Lewis’ Mere Christianity are part of the country’s heritage. I’d describe John McCain roughly the same way. (Mona Charen writes elegies to McCain and has an abiding loathing of Trump, even though the most troublesome part of both men was to be found in the same set of sins).

It appears that Mrs Trump influenced her husband’s pro-life and freedom of religion stances. I don’t know that Trump ever spoke publically on these subjects as a private citizen, but he is the first pro-life activist US president. Biden, when was he ever a private citizen? As a politician he has never been a defender of the unborn. In fact he’s been a proponent of abortion.

Fr Beck is a liar when it comes to Trump’s support for life. The former president did plenty, despite the Pope’s and Cdl Gregory’s insults.

The modernists are demonstrating by their words and actions that the true Catholic faith is not worth fighting for. They are trying to make the Church a worldly church made in the world’s image and likeness. No wonder people are leaving the Church.

He looks gay and he doesn’t seem to hide this by the way he speaks. His teeth whitening is pretty gross for a priest. And I call BS about people coming up to him “unsolicited” because they are distressed that the bishops want to deny the Eucharist to a man who supports abortion and it’s industry. Attention-seeking liar. Shame on him.

Dunno. Mrs. Trump is the most enigmatic figure to occupy that position in living memory. I have a suspicion only her sister is well acquainted with what she thinks about anything; I’d also betcha all her precise opinions are uttered in Slovene.

“Biden makes Trump look like Saint Thomas More.”

Never mind in comparison. Trump is clearly the equal of Saint Thomas More. In intellect and sanctity, as a husband and father, in his gentle humor and in his compassion. The only question is whether it will take so many unnecessary centuries until his inevitable canonization.

Pinky,

The topic was (apparently, you can’t handle it) this CNN priest’s counter-factual and illogical attacks on the bishops on a cable TV news outlet [that nobody watches].

In fact [Break out the Claritin!], President Donald John Trump is more attuned with Canon Law, Church Teaching on abortion, and St. Thomas More than is Fraudulent Biden [World-class crooked politician when he had his wits about him] and, certainly, his CCP handlers.

Trump speech 2020 March for Life excerpt:
We don’t even have priests, much less bishops, who speak so deeply.

When we see the image of a baby in the womb, we glimpse the majesty of God’s creation. [applause] When we hold a newborn in our arms, we know the endless love that each child brings to a family. When we watch a child grow, we see the splendor that radiates from each human soul. One life changes the world – from my family, and I can tell you, I send love, and I send great, great love – and from the first day in office, I have taken historic action to support America’s families and to protect the unborn. [applause]
