My favorite line of The Marine’s Hymn (it’s ‘s, not s’, the teacher in me wants to point out). Somehow, it makes me love them even more: “Angels, you can step aside, the Marine Corps is here to keep heaven safe.”
It presumes, too, that they will be going to heaven, even after some dubious activities in this life–and they’re most likely right to think so. God certainly seems to look out for them.
