Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee County explains it all:
The Milwaukee riots should be the last time the policies of liberal Democrats are held up as anything other than misery-inducing, divisive, exploitative and racist manipulation of the urban populations. Unfortunately they won’t.
As Sheriff of Milwaukee County, I am furious that the progressive left has put my citizens in harm’s way and that I had to send my officers into cauldrons of anarchy and hatred that were created by the left.
As an elected public servant I am livid that Milwaukee’s pathetic, kowtowing city officials and aldermen take this opportunity to abandon their citizens and preen before the Black Lives Matter-enabling media.
As a leader who understands that freedom and earned success are the pathways out of the ghetto, I’m disappointed, too, in any Republican that feels they need to tiptoe around the patently obvious issue at-hand: we are folding our society of freedom ensured through law-and- order over to bullies of the left. The politicians and talking heads on both sides of the aisle who offer little resistance and total cowardice.
The failed progressive urban policy causes anger and resentment in people that simmers below the surface. The officer-involved-shooting was simply a catalyst that ignited the already volatile mixture of inescapable poverty, failing K-12 public schools, dysfunctional lifestyle choices like father absent homes, gang involvement, drug/alcohol abuse and massive unemployment.
Here are the facts: Milwaukee is run by progressive Democrats. Their decades-long Democrat regime has done nothing to reduce these urban pathologies, in fact, their strategies have exacerbated the situation by expanding the welfare state.
That things have not improved and in fact worsened in the American ghetto after eight years of Barack Obama is remarkable only to those who have not been paying attention to our nation’s cities.
There’s only one answer, which is for the citizens of America to expose and heap scorn on this lying and dangerous triad of big government, liberal mainstream media, and the lost souls of the urban ghettos both these institutions feed upon for their power.

For the left, the only acceptable response to the failure of its policies is to double down on them. This includes our pope. He sees poverty solely in material terms even where, as here, it has virtually nothing to do with it. A wise priest once told me that spiritual problems require spiritual solutions. Our ghettos are epicenters of the spiritual problems affecting this country. Our only hope is to restore the values that made us great. That starts with a return to the Christian values that made us one nation, under God.
Splendid man sent by God to to say those words that no one will say…” absent fathers “. Although years ago I saw a present father in the ghetto who was awful. I arrived one Saturday to take his two 11 year old daughters and their cousin upstairs to a state park far from the ghetto along with other ghetto kids in my large chevy suburban. The father’s posse was there that morning using the bathroom to do heroin….each guy taking like 15 minutes. The twin girls had to use the bathroom upstairs in grandma’s where no one had ” gone shootin'”….to use an acdc lyric. Imagine you’re eleven years old and you can’t use your own bathroom because grown men are taking turns in there
putting a needle in their veins. I had traveled to northern NY and asked an abbot of a contemplative monastery if my obligation was to turn that crew in because they were selling and doing heroin and kicking it up with gin. The abbot said no…they’ll be replaced on the street in 24 hours because they’re selling very cut heroin….they’ll be out of prison soon and maybe kill you and stop your work with the kids…devil wins….no….don’t turn them in.
Present fathers yes….but they have to fear the God who destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD. And that sheriff should be running for president.

Thanks but…I’m more careful now….Now I send out weekly first class mailings to total strangers at my own expense of Augustine’s thought on veiled prophecies of Christ….and paint very realistic ocean oil paintings which will reach a good gallery by late next year. I don’t go looking for danger anymore….but it’s the NY harbor…it can find you any month if you fail to signal left while a car full of East Coast Crips are driving behind you. Ooops.

He is right to point to “drug/alcohol abuse”
In 2013-2014, there were 61 homicides here in Scotland, involving 88 accused. Of these, 37 (42%) were under the influence of alcohol, 2 (2%) under the influence of drugs and 7 (8%) were both.
Apart from the crimes committed under their influence, a great many others are committed to fund these addictions. Then, in the case of illegal substances, there are the crimes committed by the suppliers and distributors to maintain or increase market-share and to enforce payment from their debtors.
