My brethren at the bar Dale Price gives us updated “Miranda” warnings for social media:
You have the right to remain silent, except as set forth below.
You do not enjoy any constitutional rights of free speech or protection against coerced speech on any platform owned by monopolistic tech giants.
You do not enjoy any presumption of good faith regardless of whether you speak or not.
As defined in this warning, “reader(s)” includes people who know you in real life, including family and friends.
If you choose to remain silent, your silence on a matter of controversy can and will be taken by the reader(s) at their sole discretion to be tacit agreement with the worst possible take on the matter.
Further, the reader(s) at their sole discretion can and will associate your silence as agreement with the worst possible people–living, dead, or fictional.
Likewise, if you choose to remain silent, your silence can and will be construed as an act of violence at the sole discretion of the reader(s).
Should you choose to speak, everything you say can and will be amplified and used against you in the court of public opinion.
Neither factual accuracy nor incontrovertible evidence in your speech are relevant if the reader(s) feel(s) strongly otherwise.
Everything you say can and will be given the worst possible spin.
Everything you say can and will be used to associate you with the worst possible people, as set forth in Warning Line VI above.
Go here to read the rest. In today’s toxic climate freedom of speech is only for the very brave, the very foolish, or for those so fed up they do not give a damn anymore. People may decide for themselves where this puts your humble scribe.
He really should submit that to the Bee.
Sadly I do think one problem is too many people eager to opinionate rather than learn. I find much wisdom in Adam Corrola’s advice: don’t argue or comment until you’re sure of your position.
And a sign of wisdom is one who is sure about very little. (Like the host. I’m not complaining about him, I find him fairly wise*.)
*For a lawyer.

Frequent conversation:
Someone I’ve just accurately corrected, as politely as I can: “**** it, Foxfier, why don’t you ever just say that you’re wrong? You just HATE being wrong!”
Me: “Yes. That’s why I don’t say anything until I’m sure. Because I HATE to be wrong, so I make sure I do my research and think it out before I go shooting my mouth off.”
What I have thus far resisted saying: “so maybe YOU should try it some time, maybe?”
“It’s like a Catholic priest who only tells you you’re going to hell.”

(great punchline to that one too)
I can’t tell if Jones is replying to Morgan, or Morgan is replying to Jones.
Whichever way, it seems to me that Jones is making the case for “kinder, gentler” fascism, one that breaks things instead of people, not realizing that the fascists started by breaking things before moving on to break people.
Ernst – the way twitter works, Morgan is replying to Jones.
