PopeWatch: Spain 1936

The Pope and our Bishops will no doubt be getting right on this sometime around the Seventh of Never:

.- Boston police are investigating an arson attack on a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary Saturday night, the second attack on a statue of the Virgin Mary in two days.

Police were called to reports of a fire on Bowdin Street in the Dorchester neighborhood Boston at around 10 p.m. on July 11.

Local police confirmed that a statue of the Blessed Virgin, located outside the church of St. Peter’s Parish, had been set on fire and suffered damage. Local police and firefighters both responded to reports that an unknown individual had set fire to plastic flowers which were in the hands of the statue, causing smoke and flame damage to the face, head, and upper body of the statue.

The fire at St. Peter’s is the latest in a series of fires and acts of vandalism which have struck Catholic churches in the last two days.

On July 10, the Diocese of Brooklyn announced that New York City police were investigating the vandalization of a statue of the Virgin Mary at Cathedral Prep School and Seminary in Queens.

Security footage shows an individual approaching the 100-year-old statue shortly after 3 a.m. Friday morning and daubing the word “IDOL” down its length.

Fr. James Kuroly, rector and president of Cathedral Prep, called the incident “an act of hatred.”

“Obviously, this tragedy saddens us deeply but it also renews our hope and faith in the Lord as he has shown his goodness in the many people who have already reached out to us,” said Fr. Kuroly. “We are sincerely grateful for the help we have received as well as the prayers. Please continue praying for those who committed this act of vandalism and hatred toward Our Lady and the Church.”

In addition to the attacks on the two statues of Mary, on Saturday morning sheriffs in Marion County, Florida, reported that deputies were called to Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, which was set aflame while parishioners inside prepared for morning Mass.

Stephen Anthony Shields, 24, was later arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson, burglary, and evading arrest, after reportedly admitting to crashing a minivan into the church and then setting it on fire.

According to a Saturday evening statement from the sheriff’s office, Shields poured gasoline in the church’s foyer and ignited it, after crashing his minivan through the parish’s front door. Shields then drove away in the minivan, leading officers on a short chase before he was stopped. According to local media, Shields told police he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia but is not currently taking prescribed medication.

Also on Saturday, a fire ravaged the San Gabriel mission in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, a 249-year-old mission founded by St. Junípero Serra.

The number one enemy of anarchists is always the Catholic Church.  We are strictly on our own in this fight, since most of the clergy appear to be hoping they will be killed last this time.

The “Pope” and the Bishops are paid well for their silence. They follow money and power, not Christ.

The Archbishop of Boston is Sean Patrick O’Malley, celebrant at Ted Kennedy’s funeral. Thousands of nominal Catholics die in the Archdiocese every year. The number for whom the Archbishop is the celebrant is indubitably very few. The Archbishop only presides when the deceased has beaten a vehicular manslaughter rap.

I hadn’t realized that Robert and Ted Kennedy were buried in Arlington. I think Ted was stationed in Europe for two years; IIRC, his father was infuriated that he’s signed a contract for an extended term in the service and pulled strings to get it abbreviated. Robert, I think was in for a year or so in 1945 and 1946. To be eligible for a berth in Arlington, you have to have died on active duty, been a prisoner of war, received one of a menu of decorations, or been in the service long enough to have been vested for a retirement pension. The rules don’t apply to the Kennedys.

Somehow, the vandal who wrote “IDOL” on the statue doesn’t sound much like Antifa. More like a local “fundamentalist ” (in the colloquial use of the word) Anti-Catholic loon. OTOH, it is undeniable that the current climate of chaos is handing a carte blanche to random actual lunatics.

No so Art Deco -“The Archbishop only presides when the deceased has beaten a vehicular manslaughter rap.”
Cardinal O’Malley came to St. Leo the Great Church, City of Fairfax. to celebrate the Funeral Mass for his close friend, Dr. Raphael Madan, a Cuban patriot and freedom fighter, oral surgeon, a conservative Republican and man of deep faith. Dr and Mrs In the late 1970s and early 1980s, directed and participated in missionary trips during which they provided free oral surgery and conducted educational workshops,
In 2002, the Vatican conferred the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem on Dr. Madan and on his wife,Lilian Casa Madan. I attended his funeral because one Madan daughter is a close friend of mine and I knew Dr. and Mrs Madan.
In recent years although O’Malley is a critic of the Democratic Party on their abortion platform, I have been surprised some of the Cardinal’s statements.
“In a November 2008 interview he said that, unless the Church formally excommunicated them, he would not deny Communion to Catholic politicians in his diocese who support legal abortion. Despite criticism from conservative Catholics, including Raymond Arroyo of Eternal Word Television Network, of his participation in the funeral service for Senator Ted Kennedy, a long-standing supporter of legal abortion, O’Malley assisted at the funeral Mass and led a prayer. He called for less contentious political dialog:” “We will not change hearts by turning away from people in their time of need and when they are experiencing grief and loss.” He said he appreciated the Senator’s work for social justice, but that “there is a tragic sense of lost opportunity in his lack of support for the unborn”.

Not true: “To be eligible for a berth in Arlington, you have to have died on active duty.”.
Since the Kennedys died and were interred, the regulations have changed somewhat. Arlington National Cemetery, the former Lee-Custis plantation, will run out of land in this century.
The Kennedys have always felt entitled. Their cover ups and lies are starting to be uncovered and made public.

Daubing with what? feces? blood? paint? daub?

Anarchist? Protestant? Post-protestant, social justice warrior?

The rules don’t apply to the Kennedys.

The rule for the Kennedys is, with two burials, you get a third burial free

The terms and conditions that apply is that the all three must have run for President, two out the three had to have been assassinated, and at least one of the three must have been elected President.
