The world truly has, gone to the dogs.
Cancer treatment costs that almost equal those for humans have created a market for pet insurance. Love of neighbor? Nah. My money is on my pet. To hell with my neighbor in need.
That’s hyperbole, true, but sometimes I wonder just how close these dogs get into people’s lives and meanwhile the people with this “love” step over the homeless man sleeping on the sidewalk. (?)
Lord have mercy.
Contraceptive drugs and abortion should be banned, they are killing civilization.
The first time I heard the phrase “fur kids” I was completely flummoxed! What the heck are people thinking call their pets their kids? It is a sickness and a compensation of some sort for the sin of abortion. Displaced love cannot eradicate a person’s or our culture’s sin. God’s judgment on how society hates children and life will be severe.
60 million plus…America alone. The killing of the innocents comes at a cost. We are in the thick of it…and it’s just the beginning of it. IT? Mercy without Justice isn’t God. It’s a false premise to think otherwise.
Buckle up. Buck up. Pray Pray Pray.
The great and terrible day will come.
The great I AM has a plan.
In 1980, I was a dog person. I loved dogs and had a soft spot for them.
As handbag dogs, fur babies, expensive surgery for dogs and animal cops came onto the scene, I was opposed to all of them.
Consequently, though *my* position has not changed, I would not now be considered a dog person by a considerable swath of dog people.

I find it strange when people talk to their dogs like they are human “mummy’s here” or “daddy’s will take you for a walk”. No you didn’t birth that other species. They are not your children and you are not their parent.
And then there’s the ASPCA ads; For just $19.00 a month you can save these poor starving doggies…
I would love to see a Pro Life group grab the public’s attention by running a campaign similar to that of the ASPCA. For just $9.00 a month you can help a scared woman get on with her life and the life of her unborn child with schooling, housing, learning to do household financing, job development and advancing career opportunities. Basically what Good Counsel Homes does in New Jersey, Christopher West’s organization.
That’s worth a tear.
Oh ..btw
In 2019, the ASPCA’s CEO Matt Bershadker made more than $840,000. That’s more than the CEO’s of Feeding America and the American Red Cross, charities that have a budget 10 times the size of the ASPCA. Bershadker declined CBS News’ request for an interview, but in response to questions posed to the nonprofit, the ASPCA’s Senior Vice President of Communications Elizabeth Estroff wrote, “the ASPCA’s CEO compensation is evaluated and benchmarked every year by an outside consultant.” She also said it is based on policies and practices that are fully consistent with IRS regulations regarding “reasonable compensation” for nonprofits.

Actress Lana Turner once said that she had hoped to have one husband and 7 children instead of the other way around (7 husbands and 1 child). Well, I would rather have had 5 children and 1 cat than 5 cats and 1 child, but that was just how things worked out I suppose. The cats arrived by way of a stray pregnant mama who literally showed up on our doorstep, and it gave us great joy to see her give birth to and raise her kittens, who are all now young adults (17 months old, or about 18-20 in human years). Of course they can’t fully substitute for the children we didn’t get to have or the grandchildren we likely won’t have since our daughter is autistic, and we would never put their needs ahead of our daughter, but we are thankful for them and they do teach us patience, especially when they get the zoomies at 3 a.m. or insist on clawing the furniture….
Would like to add that as much as I love these cats, and the other pets we have had over the years (my parents had several cats, and my husband and I had 2 dogs and 3 cats at one point), I do believe some folks take the notion of pets being “family” on equal footing with children too far. Lots of people on Facebook, for example, insist that it is wrong to rehome a pet or take it to a shelter for ANY reason, including moving to a residence that doesn’t allow pets, children or other family members having allergies, or the pet biting or scratching family members or others. They will argue that it is tantamount to abandoning a child. I agree that it shouldn’t be done lightly but the welfare of the humans in the family has to come first.
Our cats are welcome to claw the furniture. That’s what it’s there for.
God bless you Elaine. And your daughter. I once saw a quote that said “Autism is proof that love doesn’t need words”.
Also to add to the pet / human narrative – I think what draws some people to pets over children, by choice, is that pets don’t answer back or require any care intellectually or spiritually. And to some extent, emotionally. Humans (young ones) are difficult to look after because they complex beings. Pets are a reprieve from that complication. I suspect that’s what first drew humans to domesticate animals in the first place, beyond just being a work companion.
I was a veterinary technician for years. I watched this fur baby designation evolve into owners calling their pets “son” and “daughter.” Seriously. And sometimes bringing a human infant along to a pet exam so we could meet Fido’s “new baby brother.”
I believe this is softening us up to accept euthanasia for humans. I’m not opposed to euthanizing a suffering pet. But if your dog is REALLY your relative and you’re euthanizing out of mercy, then what about your other relatives, like Grandma?

They are banned by the Catholic Church.
Both Hitler and Mussolini paid women to have children to furnish soldiers.
