What kept Islam at bay was Western technology. What gave the Christian West technology was a belief in a Creator Who Created a world that could be understood -Christianity.
Today across the world knowledge is shared, and that barrier to Islam no longer applies. Keep in mind the MAD doctrine, “mutual assured destruction”, kept the USSR and the US out of a nuclear WW3. That MAD doctrine simply does not apply to the mad mullahs, especially when it comes to Israel. And also, because Israel keeps the mad mullahs busy we don’t notice – to Europe and the US.
Yes, indeed. The Vatican and USCCB are scared to death of islam. The bishops believe they can be friends with the Islamists and are completely fooled by their smiles.

Two things have fueled the rise of Islam from a decaying religion in an unimportant corner of the world to the preeminent challenge to western society. First is the discovery of and global demand for vast oil reserves that have provided cash to Islam’s adherents. The second coincidinh with the first, is the west’s belief that because it has “risen above wars of religion” and embraced tolerance of all others, it assumes others have too. As Mary said, Islam is quite willing to coexist until it can conquer. The postmodern west has forgotten that it only takes one side to start a war.

Communists and Muslims are only temporarily at peace with the Western Tradition.
They both pretend to embrace the Western Tradition until they have the leverage and/or numbers to crush it.
We have several states that we call blue states that are essentially socialist. When will the first “green state” appear – one that is essentially sharia law?
Belloc was very perceptive. Islam multiplies through their high birth rate. That’s what has happened through western immigration. It’s by design. And the idea that they rule by the sword has been replaced by rule through attrition. That’s how Islam is conquering the west.
Not all of Christendom has forgotten Islam. The former Warsaw Pact countries really want nothing to do with Islam.
Orthodoxy never has and never will forgive Islam for the fall of Constantinople and the loss of the Hagia Sophia.
The Christians of sub Saharan Africa and the Middle East live with the terror that is Islam every day
Radical Hindus in India aren’t any better.
