Ivereigh is wrong in that he things Rupnik’s work raises one’s heart and mind to God. It does not and should be removed because it is, as Feser notes, hideous. It is characteristic of “felt-banner” Catholicism and depicts a distorted anthropology of God and man.

I’m proud of K of C and others who are removing them.
It’s very telling when they won’t give it up, even when they know some of his art has abuse worked in with the art itself.
Including PF in his private prayer room

Remove it
… Then break/cut it into tiny little pieces, burn the pieces, put the ashes into a rocket and shoot it into the sun!

… Then, maybe, nuke the sun.

What about the new commandment, thou shalt accompany?

Isn’t it a failure to accompany the victims by forcing them to be exposed to reminders of their abuser’s existence?

Hierarchy based on hypocrisy.

The Church would fail if it were truly dependent on such men as these. Thank God it is not.

As Fr. Longenecker puts it: Rupnik’s art is bad art and represents bad theology. He could be a saint and it still needs to go. That he’s who he is makes a good third reason, of course.
