Disagree that he should resign. That should not become routine. Pray for his conversion and a happy death. Trust God. It’s hard, as my daily failures demonstrate.

Secularists think he should retire. Christian service with sacrifice disagrees with the epicurean driving principle of the secularists to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. In the eyes of the world, because he is miserable, he ought to move on. This is not the teaching of Christ who told us to expect to suffer. The secular world sees the papacy as a fulcrum of power. The best popes have seen it as a continuation of His cross.
Besides, on a strictly practical level, what new pope would want to deal with a pope emeritus Francis. I doubt very much he would refrain from constant comment.

Well, if the next Pope infallibly declared Francis an Anti-Pope, anathemized all his writings and statements and assigned him to a silent monastery somewhere … That might do the trick 🙂

We should recognize that the vast majority of Roman Catholics do not view Pope Franci negatively.

Perhaps the attacks by catholics on Pope Francis could be viewed as indicators of our need for a pope like him. I don’t know, just throwing that out as food for thought. Peace brothers.

Your ‘vast majority’ show up at Mass twice a year and haven’t been to confession since 1992.
