Age 100. Perhaps the last leaf of the Golden Age of Hollywood. A survivor from a gentler time in our culture. I will miss her, as I miss that time. A Catholic, she met John Paul II in 1985. She credited the Faith in sustaining her through the highs and lows of life. May she now be enjoying the highest high any mortal can attain to.
Bonus:
Her father Gene Lockhart in a memorable role:
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and perpetual light shine upon her. +†+
She seemed like a lovely lady. God Rest her Eternal Soul.
I also remember her as the lady doctor in Petticoat Junction.
I never knew she was a Catholic. But it makes sense, now. She was a bright star in the dark sky of Hollywood.
Yes. Rest in Peace.
RIP

Still around are Eva Marie Saint and Nancy Olson.

Dick van Dyke, William Daniels, Bonnie Bartlett, and John Astin appeared on the scene shortly after the ‘golden age’ came to a close.
She and her father (who played Bob Crachit) appeared together in the 1935 version of “A Christmas Carol”, starring Reginald Owen.
Same here. I didn’t know she was a Catholic either. Obviously, I’m overjoyed that she was indeed “one of us.” Eiuge, serva bona et fidelis!”
Rest in Peace June Lockhart.
