An artificial intelligence could not have faith, but it could draw conclusions from evidence presented. Hopeful and disturbing at the same time.

It’s so easy to mistake recall or computational power for intelligence. Understanding is beyond the reach of a machine. Although fooling people to think machines can understand is not.

So it appears AI can interpret more accurately the prophetic passage from Revelation. 12:1 than all the world’s most erudite Scripture scholars:
“And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”

AI can only understand what it is programmed to understand by the programmer who understands, or not.
I wrote: “Jesus Christ is the Revelation of God.” The Co-pilot wrote: God is she.
I wrote: “Jesus Christ is the Revelation of God.” The co-pilot wrote: God is she.

If devils could work through the stone and metal of ancient (and not so ancient) peoples, should we be amazed if they work through what we consider the work of *our* finest craftsmen?
Circuits are metal, silicon is after all just stone and these devices are adorned with precious and rare minerals…
AI is not intelligence, nor will AI have self-awareness. I’ve written blog posts about this and have a chapter in my ebook, “A Primer for the Faithful.” Nevertheless it makes interesting sf; see, for example, “Our Lady of the Artilects.”

@ Mary DeVoe: yes, agreed.
Was stating extreme sarcasm at so many of the many oh-so-erudite short-on-Faith Scripture scholars who form-criticize Revelation “to death”—if it were possible to so.
