Another “conservative” broken by Trump.

Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
There are no ‘constant apologists’ for Trump known to anyone outside their immediate social circle and there are no ‘constant, sycophantic’ apologists bar a few people on his payroll.
The most awkward part of this is that Goldberg’s late mother was not an antagonist of Trump. The other is that few 53 year old men have an occupational life and standard of living more contingent on patronage and connections. If you’re in that sort of glass house, you should be sparing referring to other people as ‘useless’.
The person who had until recently seemed to have fallen off the face of the Earth was his wife, Jessica Gavora. She now has a LinkedIn profile up, but has chosen settings which obscure her resume. Evidently, she at some point landed a job in the State Department’s PR apparat.
Have you seen the Tablet article on Obama by an Obama biographer? He reports Obama as being as narcissistic as Trump, as well as being a fabulist, and openly fantasizing about homosexual relations in a letter to a girlfriend. Also, the biographer reports Obama as the current puppet master-in-chief. The money quote from the article about Obama: “He’s not normal—as in not a normal politician or a normal human being.”
I point this out as the Trump hysteria is amplified while Obama, who is at least as flawed a person is a secular saint.

I doubt Obama is in charge of much of anything.
It’s apparent Garrow doesn’t think much of Obama and finds him deeply peculiar. The question at hand is, why would anyone admire him? He doesn’t have any family scandals, but neither did George W. Bush, who was loathed by partisan Democrats. You have people who derided George W Bush’s service record and business career ca. 2003 and you have people who are Obama enthusiasts five years later. Quite a bit of overlap between those two populations. That Obama had neither a service record nor a business career to deride goes right over their heads.
He had no executive experience in any venue. He sat in legislatures for a dozen years, but is an identified maven in no area of policy. He was employed by a law faculty for 12 years, but published no scholarly articles and taught boutique courses. If you pro-rate p/t and seasonal work, he spent no more than four years working in law offices and was never offered a partnership nor did he set up his own firm. The one distinct thing he did was to run the Chicago Annenberg Challenge into the ground. You can infuriate partisan Democrats just by offering a spare recitation of the man’s employment history over the period running from 1983 to 2008.
That masses of people admire this man is deeply troubling.
Jonah has always been a smart aleck.

There’s nothing clever in what he said.
