What? You think you live in a free country????
Up to each of us T.Shaw:
A woman to Benjamin Franklin at the close of the Constitutional Convention:
“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
Benjamin Franklin “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
Was it true he lived in a brothel?
No, but such stories tended to cluster about him. He always loved the fairer sex too well, and after the death of his wife in 1774 gossip and Franklin ever walked hand in hand as he entered his seventies.
We aren’t going to keep the Republic we were bequeathed unless we stop wholesale election fraud. We learned last month that a significant bloc seems to have emerged to whom cultural issues are the only thing that matters. We reasonably expect many will learn the folly of that perspective as they grow older and experience more reality, but that takes time, and leftist indoctrination remains pervasive in all levels of the education establishment, so culture-only voters with left-wing beliefs will continue being produced in large numbers for years to come. It therefore seems that the fraud issue is the one that can be addressed most immediately. The current example of Arizona should prove instructive in that regard, but that’s only one of the states that produced the 2020 “anomalies.” The issues in the other five states, not to mention just about every other “blue” state, will have to be dealt with as well. None of this will happen so long as people like McConnell, McCarthy, and McDaniel are left in charge of the GOP. (Sounds like a South Boston law firm. 😁) And we must find a way to minimize the damage that continues to be done by Trump. I am sorry to say, I am now convinced he is doing more harm than good to the cause of resisting the Left. His great accomplishments remain, especially in the way his battle with the Swamp has revealed so many harsh truths about our current elitist system. But I fear he will take us down to another defeat in 2024 because, again, both parties (or the Uniparty, if you prefer) will throw everything they have against him. That, plus the margin of fraud, will do him (and us) in. I’d love to be convinced otherwise.
Republicans out in California are beating the Democrats at their own game of mail in votes and that should be done around the nation. Trump’s war against mail in voting was stupid and self defeating. Republican get out the vote operations need to be revamped. Too many local Republican parties spend their energies in cold civil wars instead of preparing to beat the Democrats. We had a lot of good candidates who got beaten largely because they were starved for funds. We need centralized funding like the Democrats used so effectively.
Trump is largely responsible for recreating the GOP in a new and stronger incarnation, but he has no personal discipline and seems intent on continually refighting 2020 to the detriment of 2024. He is also a complete narcissist and would adopt a rule or ruin attitude if De Santis gets in, which I doubt De Santis will do so long as Trump is running . What a mess!
Thanks, Donald, great points. The CA mail-in voting example shows what can be done without necessarily being unethical. We should stop discouraging early voting, as well, and just play the game by their rules as long as those rules exist, improving them when and where we can.
No, but such stories tended to cluster about him.
Great! Glad to hear it! I’m tired of biting my tongue when the “morality” card is played.
I’m sorry to hear that he didn’t want the turkey to be the National bird … That was my excuse for celebrating Independence Day with Thanksgiving in July.

I’m not sure you can beat crooks at their own game without dabbling in the unethical.
“I’m not sure you can beat crooks at their own game without dabbling in the unethical.”
You are probably right. I am hopeful that Republicans (or Anti-Democrats of whatever label) can encourage people we expect will vote our way to participate in the mail-in process in great numbers, and to do it early, which in theory would make it harder for the cheaters to steal votes by filling in ballots from a registration list and dumping them into the counting stream as needed. I know nothing of the strategy and tactics the CA GOP used this year, so I am only able to guess and speculate. (My only experience as a party worker was back in the days when punch cards were viewed as high technology, and you got to check your card before putting it in the big steel box under the no less steely eye of at least two poll watchers. 😁) I wonder of the CA GOP will be sharing their methods publicly? Might be interesting.
“I wonder if…”
Grr.

Ballot harvesting is legal in CA (which I would consider to be an unethical practice). It’s my understanding that the CA GOP got to some nursing homes first, and that upset some Dems.
We need to eliminate mail-in voting for the general populace. Voting by mail opens up too much opportunity for voter fraud; there’s no GOOD reason why we need this approach. l tolerate Absentee voting for college students and military personnel; their duties legitimately have them away from their normal voting precincts. Everyone else needs to cease finding excuses for why they can’t find their appropriate polling location on Election Day. If people can’t be bothered to educate themselves about the issues and candidates, then make an effort to go to the polls, …perhaps they ought not be voting.
Franklin’s quote about a Republic, if we can keep it, seems quite apt.
[…] REBELLION TO TYRANTS IS OBEDIENCE TO GOD […]
“I’m not sure you can beat crooks at their own game without dabbling in the unethical.”
It is time to beat them at their own game with their own rules.
