Virtue Signaling: Simon & Schuster Edition

Jim Crow, in its latest incarnation, rides again as big corporations eagerly act as Thought Police for the Deep State and the Left.  Only if a person has the correct politics will they be served.  Hawley’s breach of contract suit should be amusing.  Any conservative who still believes that big corporations are anything other than mortal foes is delusional.  Oh, and Hawley, after he wins his breach of contract suit, should send Simon & Schuster a thank you card for the free publicity.

“Any conservative who still believes that big corporations are anything other than mortal foes is delusional.”
Case in point: About 40 years ago at Chrysler our VP of Marketing had a term for our customers: PODs, i.e., poor, old and dumb.

On the 7th of this month the Washington Free Beacon published a story on the resistance the Trump administration has been receiving to its proposed new regulations prohibiting banks from denying services and loans based on political grounds.

Citibank and Bank of America have protested the proposed new regulation, and are receiving public support from a dozen or so congressional Democrats.

Currently, the banks and the Democrats are objecting to the proposed rule because the banks wish to deny services to firearms manufacturers— but who among us thinks that a fiscal cancel culture would end there?

Isn’t it amusing that partisan Democrats are all in favor of freedom-of-contract when it advances their interests.

One of the chilling things in recent years has been banks, credit card companies, and online payment processors working to prevent quite ordinary political dissenters from raising funds and transacting business. (Some of them apparently working off blacklists assembled by the $PLC). I’ve had occasion to wonder if the source of this was Lois Lerner types ensconced in the federal regulatory apparat. We live in a low and dishonest age.

I was once seeking work as an independent contractor that would have required hiring a coding and billing company, and a credit processing service.

After learning how much businesses pay for credit services, I started paying privately owned businesses cash or by check.

I have also stopped using large national banks and now favor local credit unions. I use a company credit card for companies that have its own like Lowe’s, Home Depot or Tractor Supply. I wish businesses would give cash discounts or make customers pay a portion of credit card processing fees to discourage the use of credit.

I wonder if a large corporation would have any other motivations for cancelling a book titled “The Tyranny of Big Tech.”
