NB Bergolio is not a false name. I have heard from a reputable source that this is a common way to refer to the pope in Europe.
It’s like getting mad because someone says 24 April. Words are only as good or bad as the meaning they carry.
Typically, referring to the pope by his birth name is a Protestant move.

I am glad to discover that it’s not just me that does this. My brother and I often exchange texts early in the morning about the latest outrage from Rome. I used so many different names for the Pope that my brother used to wait in anticipation for what new name was going to be used that day. He joked that sometimes he had to go and look up the word used in the name. Some of course were instantly recognizable but also not subject to publication.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a protestant (or anyone) make reference to ‘Ratzinger’, ‘Wojtila’, ‘Luciani’, ‘Montini’, ‘Roncalli’, ‘Pacelli’ &c. after their election, except in written retrospectives.
