And another democracy dies with a whimper
Give it a rest Ernst. Perpetual doom and gloom is tiresome.
Do what you got to Don. I’m at where I’m at.
Yes you are Ernst, and I am suggesting politely that you have made clear that our only option in your view is to wait cheerfully to have our throats cut. Message received. No need to keep repeating it ad nauseum.
Trump conceded without even mentioning Biden.
As far as giving up, never! Why give the bastards on the other side the satisfaction?
The media is whining that the President Trump should have made this statement yesterday. The election wasn’t certified until the wee of today, Jan 7th. It was released this a.m. through a staff member’s Twitter account because the president’s account had been shut down.
It’s never enough or timely enough for the media and Dems.
I have tremendous respect for what President Trump was able to accomplish in his term—- despite the constant resistance from the Left, and the betrayals of his supposed allies on the right.
Perhaps someday I’ll be able to shake his hand and tell him so. He deserves to hear it.
Let us have hope in times of darkness. Now comes the resurrection for Trump. He will be our great political leader along Vigano, our religious leader. Let us have faith in the Lord who works in mysterious ways.
He will be our great political leader along Vigano, our religious leader.
Only if God has an immense sense of humor. Both are very flawed men who find themselves on the side of the angels at this juncture. Engaging in messianic talk about them is foolish. Trump did his worst in his folly to end his political career this week, but I am confident, currently that the Dems by their folly will make him look good as an option in 2024. Vigano has had the courage to take on Francis directly and that earns my respect. He has also engaged in a lot of loose talk over the past year which has greatly diminished his effectiveness.
CAM writes, “The election wasn’t certified until the wee of today, Jan 7th. … It’s never enough or timely enough for the media and Dems.”
The election wasn’t certified till Thursday am because of the actions of Trump supporters. If Trump had made a different speech to them on Wed am, perhaps none of “this folly” Wed pm would have happened.
perhaps none of “this folly” Wed pm would have happened.
Or if the Dems hadn’t stolen the Presidential Election. Or if the Dems hadn’t spent the last half year proclaiming that “mostly peaceful” riots are good and acceptable. Or if the Dems hadn’t engaged in open warfare against Trump from the day he was elected to the present. The list could go on at length.
Maybe now we’ll finally get an id required to vote. We need one to buy beer. Senior citizens need on for discounts. The fact you don’t need one to vote screams fraud.
M S Jones, Take a deep breath…there was a flurry of knee jerk announcements immediately after the the Capitol was breached. How, what and who information is still coming to light two days later. Just because hitting SEND wherein an email can go around the world in seconds doesn’t mean an investigation can gather facts in an hour or days.
Much has been made by the media about cabinet members and others in senior positions resigning in wake of Wednesday’s event. First of all when there is a change of parties at the POTUS level typically many to not stay til inauguration day. They want a head start in finding employment. Secondly those who have referenced the Capitol riot in their resignation letters are covering their six, aka behinds. In case you haven’t read it the Democrats are serious about taking revenge, even openly coming up with lists of individuals, not just at the top of the Trump Administration but also down line to Republican election officials and party workers. One in Michigan was escorted to a safe house by local law enforcement and told to stay put for a week for his safety.
I agree with Don the anger bubbling over has been a long time acoming. It’s one sided class warfare. Did you hear Anderson Vanderbilt Cooper mocking the people on the mall who came to hear the President speak? I heard it and viewed it, disgraceful, but at least snobbery about middle American aka Deplorables is no longer hidden.
Simon & Shuster, a large publishing company, is no longer going to publish Senator Hawley’s latest book because he voiced his opposition to electors from a state fraught with election fraud. When and how else was the wide spread fraud going to be a matter of record if not detailed by a few brave (R) senators on the chambers floor?
Or if the Dems hadn’t engaged in open warfare against Trump from the day he was elected to the present.
If I may I would like to recommend Sheryl Attkinsson’s book “Slanted.”
She is an honest journalist and this is a brutal indictment of the media. The last chapter is a list of many, (but not all), of the mistakes, lies and outright fabrications that journalists made against Trump.
Two weeks ago, Don suggested I give it a rest, and I complied by staying a way from the American Catholic for a week. A week ago, I came back and saw this comment, and, not knowing what to say, I stayed away for another week. Now I know what I want to say.
If THAT’S all you took away from what I was trying to say, then I’ve failed so badly that there’s no point in me trying to say anything else here ever again.
So, best wishes and warmest regards to everyone here, and good luck in facing the struggles that will confront us all in the next decade.
If THAT’S all you took away from what I was trying to say, then I’ve failed so badly that there’s no point in me trying to say anything else here ever again.
ES-
Never give up, never surrender.
If THAT’S all you took away from what I was trying to say, then I’ve failed so badly that there’s no point in me trying to say anything else here ever again.
Your choice Ernst. You are always welcome here. Bleak pessimism is never welcome here.
“Bleak pessimism”
Thank you for making my point for me.
There’s nothing bleak about martyrdom –white or red.
And it’s going to take martyrs like Cardinal Pell to show us the way forward.
I’m going to quit now, because I don’t want to be mistaken for a troll.
Thank you for making my point for me.
No Ernst, thank you for making my point for me. I know too much history to think there is anything but bleakness about a lot of innocent people dying, martyrs or not. If we act to confront our would be oppressors it will never come to that. Your type of pessimism, and that is precisely what it is, leads to defeatism and that could produce martyrs. I prefer the other side, if it comes to it, to have boatloads of martyrs for communism, intersectionality or whatever the fetishism of the day is for the Left. Cardinal Pell, who you cite as an example, was damn lucky he had good attorneys on appeal. Practical steps like that prevent the need for martyrs.
