PopeWatch: Climate Change

Like Hazel Moles in Flannery O’Connor’s Wiseblood, Pope Francis seems to want a Church of Christ Without Christ:

Pope Francis once again called for action to be taken on “climate change,” this time making the alarmist claim that there are less than 30 years to do so. The Holy Father didn’t mention God, or Jesus Christ, at all in his 13-minute video.

The new video is part of TED’s “Countdown” series, which seeks “to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis” and has the goal of building “a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world.”

Pope Francis opens by saying, “Science tells us, every day, with more precision, that urgent action is needed … if we are to keep the hope of avoiding radical and catastrophic climate change.” He reemphasizes the point, “This is a scientific fact.”

Go here to read the rest.  Pope Francis is lousy Pope, and PopeWatch doubts he is any better as a pretend scientist.

There is good reason Francis did not mention Christ as He offered no support on climate change or any other of the “Pope’s” worldly interests.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” —Matthew 6:34

If the heretic occupying the seat of St. Peter really believed in anthropogenic global warming, then he would be advocating full scale electric grid conversion from gas, oil & coal to nuclear. But he doesn’t. He mouths off on useless, worthless renewables that have less than 30% capacity factor and their own immense adverse impacts on the environment. The Pope – heretic and hypocrite. Damning to the soul and the body.

PS, I think we should use nuclear fission generated steam heat to release oil from the oil sands in Alberta, Cananda, and to frack oil in Pennsylvania. Terrestrial Power’s molten salt reactor would be perfect for the job. And the Pope could hate two sources of energy – oil and nuclear – simultaneously. A win-win!

Popes delving into science? Didn’t we learn a big lesson about that many many years ago?

the Church and particularly Pope Francis knows zilch about “science.” Please, let us not return to the days of Galileo when the Church meddled in worldly matters, the truth of which changes, rather than the eternal verities of Catholic teaching.

Francis speaks the truth. If he continues on his current course, his future will be very warm indeed. This is scientific fact!

I don’t know why, but Bill Cosby’s great skit on Noah and the ark came into my mind instantly. How many cubits is climate change anyways?

Most people know that like everything the nutty left pushes, climate change is a hoax.

Pew Research Poll – 2019 – Climate Change Still Ranks As Low Priority – 18th of 19 Issues.

Fact: The ocean is like 12,000 feet deep in spots and it’s level has risen eight inches in 100 years.

If climate change were an apocalyptic crisis, they wouldn’t need to lie to ‘sell’ it.

It’s not only PF, either.

Posted at Instapundit:

“Last week ‘pro-life’ evangelicals across the land started stumbling over themselves to endorse a political party and a candidate who is openly against life and against evangelicals.”

“Christianity isn’t about being socially popular, but a lot of people — especially among church leaders who want to be socially popular — seem to think so.”

Don,
You should start including “Pope” Michael’s speeches, quotes and recommendations. They are probably MORE relevant to the Faith than “Pope” Francis’s recommendations.

I think Instapundit is referring to this crew:

The prominence of seminary rectors on the list provides evangelical pew sitters with another piece of evidence for something many of them have suspected for some years: that they’re supposed teachers are a claque of careerist poseurs.

To JFK’s point, but regarding a different man, this person (“Archfather Rutherford of the Anglo-Italian Patriarchate” – oh my!) is more suited to the Seat of St. Peter than the heretical Marxist Peronist Caudillo currently occupying the position:

Yes, he’s on my Facebook page, mostly for amusement. Maybe he’s a charlatan, but his writings (when serious and not about his flamboyant fantasies) are usually very orthodox and conservative. Sad that a charlatan with delusions of grandeur is more authentically Catholic than the current Pope.

If you read scan the comments on the instapundit post T Shaw links above, you’ll see that someone pointed out “pro-life evangelicals for Biden” is an astroturf group, and that Democrats do this during every election (one of the founders of this group has been doing this since McGovern lost to Nixon). You’ll also see that the survey that allegedly supports this supposed Christian turn to the Left was a survey of all adults, not self-identified Christians, let alone evangelicals in particular.

In other words, fake news.
