In negotiating trade deals Trump, trolling aside, has sought advantages for the US. This is par for the course in regard to trade deals between nations. That the Canadian leadership has used this perfectly normal attitude to launch an anti-American jihad in Canada, has much more to do with Canadian politics, where bashing the US is usually popular, than trade. Trump trolling is not helpful, but is largely responsive to the fact that north of the border, for a very long time, Uncle Sam has been treated as Uncle Sucker. Those days are gone, and no amount of Canadian hysteria will bring them back, so long as Trump is in office.

While I would like Trump to stop trolling, there’s always an element of truth in them.
