Only For The Really Interested

The author is a famed barrister in England and a former Supreme Court Justice.  (Britain having a Supreme Court is a recent, and I would say malign, borrowing from the US.) His writing is adequate, although his microscopic coverage of the series of wars that are known as the Hundred Years War can sometimes be mind glazing.  My main take away is that the decisive factor, as in many wars, was money.  The English had, usually, the superior military, but their financial resources were, usually, dwarfed by their French adversaries.  Highly recommended to those interested in that history altering struggle.

Looks interesting, never heard of it before but reading on-line reviews, it seems worth the investment.

Am I the only one who will pretend that he’s going to “think about purchasing a book” knowing darn well that you’re just fooling yourself, that you’re going to buy the stupid thing? Exhibit A, right here of that delusional thinking.

In my income bracket, this more often takes the shape of “browsing” the books in the thrift store and thinking I will *not* spend the $1.50 for a hardcover 🙄
