Original poster is delusional. Canada has taken the position of America’s opponents from the beginning. And contrary to the popular belief, Canadians are not nice. They’re hostile whenever there’s any kind of disagreement with the United States and that hostility has continued for decades if not centuries. What they’re complaining about now is that we finally have a president that is prepared to put the American people first rather than Canadians and the globalists. America doesn’t owe Canada or Canadians anything. We don’t owe them access to America’s markets or American jobs. We certainly don’t owe them for acting as a conduit for drug smuggling, illegal aliens and the CCP. I say this as someone that has French Canadian ancestry and I thank God and my great-grandfather for moving to Wisconsin in 1842.

They refuse to police their southern border, and don’t forget how they treated the peaceful truckers who simply didn’t want to get jabbed.

For the most part, Canadians and Americans get along. Usually the governments of each country get along.

Pierre Trudeau was a snob, an arrogant little *$#&@ and a sympathizer to Communists. Justine Trudeau is a village idiot.

I’m not all that bothered by Canada getting some favorable trade deals as it is a benefit to the US to have a politically, socially and economically stable neighbor.

The things that aggravate me about Canada are as follows:
1. Canada has eviscerated its military. Canada knows damn well the USA would never allow Russia or China to invade, but now they want the US to do their heavy lifting.
2. Canada’s support for the Cuban dictatorship. Cuba has allowed the USSR, Russia, China and Iran to use its territory to spy on the USA. Canada knows this
3. The stupid Quebec language laws…imagine the government citing you, charging you civilly or maybe criminally, because the sign on your business is not in “acceptable” French. Quebec stopped worshipping God and worshipped themselves and their French language. Western Canada is disgusted with the “equalization payments” they put out that go to Quebec.
5. The continued whining about no Canadian NHL team not winning the Stanley Cup since 1993 and the associated whining about no team in Quebec City since the Nordiques left for Denver in 1995. The number of French Canadian NHL players is at an all time low. Americans and Scandinavians do not want to play in a small French enclave.

Trudeau and Carney are dufuses. The Liberal Party is a collection of dufuses. I am happy my great grandparents Anderson returned to Western Pennsylvania from Saskatchewan a hundred years ago.

Their whiskey is also near tasteless with a little added food coloring. Sort of reflects the cultural level of some in the country.

When I was a drinker, I rather liked Canadian Club.

Canada has two difficulties, both of which you see in other occidental countries. One is elite incompetence and malevolence. The other is a general public too enervated to react. The number of foreigners streaming into the country every year now exceeds the number of live births.

“ When I was a drinker, I rather liked Canadian Club.”

therein lies the problem 🙂 my guess is Prohibition made Canadian whiskey famous. if i m having a whisky, it’s going to be either a Highland or Islay.

I think the whole thing about changing names is stupid, whether Democrats do it or Republicans, and Democrats are far more guilty. However, I don’t think we Republicans should stoop to the level of the godless Democrats and do things to purposely pi$$ people off. But I do think that putting America first before Mexico and Canada is the right thing to do. But like it or not, they are our neighbors and we have to figure out how to live with them amicably. Nevertheless, I agree with all of Donald’s points above about Canada, and the Mexican government should be in perpetual sackcloth and ashes after Plutarco Elias Calles at the beginning of the 20th century.

BTW, there is a town called Ontario in the northwest corner of Wayne County, New York. I used to work at the James Fitzpatrick nuclear power plant on the shores of Lake Ontario. It’ll always be Lake Ontario to me, not because I have any special love for Canada, but because I have many memories of working there for many years.

I love President Trump and I appreciate all the good he’s doing, but this petulant childish acting out to deliberately pi$$ off our neighbors is wrong, even if they deserve to be pi$$ed off. We should be better than that.

The Vietnam War was immoral. Vietnam did not attack the U.S. That being said, who cares about Canada? Most Americans couldn’t find Canada or Vietnam on a map. Mr. McClary quit being such a warmonger. You have a good site. Don’t ruin it with immoral justifications

In college I once had a roommate who was constantly on the phone, and would go on and on about how great of person he was. How he had empathy for even the slightest amount of human suffering, how he had a problem of giving too much of himself, etc.

But he would chew me out when I asked him to get off the phone, because it was 1AM and I needed to get up at 7AM (and this happened nearly every night.) He would steal food and then say that it didn’t really matter because he was needy (even though he had money to the point where he would always fly first class.)

Canada is like that roommate. Always going on about how nice they are, but never willing to help you out in even the smallest of matters. One of the most telling things about that tweet posted above is the statement that Canada is not America’s friend, but rather it’s “role model.” They are not saying “we like you and will help you out when you are in trouble.” They are saying “we are better than you and will throw a tantrum if you don’t recognize that.”

Even if you are a Trump admirer, you must admit that “Lake America” is utterly asinine. Given the burdens and responsibilities of his office, Trump must have better ways of spending his time.

I’m satisfied with ‘Lake Ontario’. (I grew up there). Trump goes, it will revert. I doubt he spent any more time on the question that what it took to type it out on Truth Social.

They’ve had a reason for being other than ‘not the Yankee’, but they’ve been quite feeble about understanding it as they lived it. One error was attempting to house Quebec and the Anglophone provinces under one political contraption. This experiment should have been terminated some time between 1931 and 1985.
==
Quebec itself had a unique culture unlike any other place on Earth. They elected after 1960 to trash it. What they had left was not-the-Anglo and continual demands for deference from the rest of Canada. The demands should have been met with an instruction to get lost and live on your own.

As for the rest of Canada, it fell for a con artist like Pierre Elliot Trudeau and then his farcical son. That’s indicative of an essential emptiness. In lieu of Canadian patriotism – an appreciation for what Canadians had accomplished over 360 years – they allowed their political and chattering classes to saddle them with contrived multiculturalism and witless preening. Immigration streams have been excessive for 85 years and have now turned into a hideous deluge; freedom of speech, freedom to publish, freedom of contract, and freedom of association has been trashed to please the karenwaffe and the regime pets, and public institutions have turned into DEI latrines; and the Canadian public is perfectly clueless about what the authentic threats to them are. They’re losing their country and they bloody well deserve it.

A reply to Mr. McClarey:

The Vietnam War was an attempt to prevent the Communist takeover of South Vietnam.

The majority of Vietnamese favored the takeover–this is why Saigon collapsed so rapidly. Besides, since when is it America’s business to determine which government system is best for Vietnam? Foreign interventionism was not an ideal the Founders supported (i.e., we have our own problems).

It was just as moral as the Crusades.

No it wasn’t. Strafing villages and killing innocent children, their mothers and fathers is not supported by Catholic moral teaching. Mr. McClarey: Recalibrate your moral compass.

I’ll follow the moral compass that led my late uncle SSGT William Spates jr USA to train and lead a band of South Vietnamese Rangers defending their country against unjust Red aggressors, KIA on his second tour. If their defense was just, so was his assistance.

Mr. Clary, you never answered Mr. Bennet’s question: [S]ince when is it America’s business to determine which government system is best for Vietnam (or any nation for that matter)?

And

Strafing villages and killing innocent children, their mothers and fathers is not supported by Catholic moral teaching.

These two points render your defenses and justifications rather hollow if you ask this old country lawyer. There is a reason we lost the Holy Land and it starts with what happened in 1099. War is punishment for sin.(Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal in 1917)
