Malachi Martin on the Election of John Paul I

This episode of Firing Line was broadcast on September 6, 1978, the conversation centering on the election of Pope John Paul I.  The well connected Malachi Martin explains how the Church in Poland was central in putting together the coalition which elected the Pope.  The new Pope would die suddenly on September 28, 1978, and it is easy to see how Cardinal Wojtyla became the man next in line in those strange times.  Fascinating viewing.

I only had enough time to catch the first 24 minutes. A) The “policy” is what the election of a new Pope is about. B) Marxist lead theologians from Central and South America are by far the dominate brand.

And C). The measure of what God wills v. What God is willing to allow…an interesting distinction.

Looking forward to the rest.

The conclave was just a formality in regards to Leo’s “appointment.” They had their man and it wasn’t going to change. Sad.
In the end, God is willing to allow what comes until His will is done, and done perfectly.
After-all He is God. His will can not be shelved forever.

Speaking of Popes. The Vicar of Christ is the Vicar of Truth, the Life and the Way. There is no departing from the Truth without leading to hell.

“The Vicar of Christ is the Vicar of Truth, the Life and the Way. “

… without the (Office of the) Papacy there would be no Christianity on Earth.
Individuals, meh.

Doesn’t the Son of God deserve perfect Truth? Don’t we as the children of God deserve perfect Truth?
If there were no Christianity on earth, the Apostolic Succession would bring Christianity to fruition. I believe that Francis I was a punishment from God for lukewarm Catholicism.
