“Senator Durbin today informed me that he has decided not to receive an award at our Keep Hope Alive celebration. While I am saddened by this news, I respect his decision. But I want to make clear that the decision to present him an award was specifically in recognition of his singular contribution to immigration reform and his unwavering support of immigrants, which is so needed in our day.” — Cardinal Blase Cupich
Was Dubin shoved out. If so, by whom?
We have a homeland. The Bishop of Rome has told us it is ‘inhumane’ to defend that homeland by arresting people here contrary to law and sending them back to their homeland. Keep in mind, there are no countries in the Western Hemisphere suffering an active insurgency and two of the three countries in a politically disagreeable state are next door to countries much more economically and culturally similar than is the United States. Cubans are not unwelcome in the United States nor do you have pell mell migration from Cuba. As for Haiti, resettling their population here does not address Haiti’s issues; only putting the place under a foreign conservatorship will begin to do so. So, open borders is now obligatory; we’ll next be told that open-ended economic maintenance of randos crossing the border is also now obligatory.
Did someone see that this dust up was having a spine strengthening effect on bishops – and decide to nip it in the bud?
File this under “things we’re not going to get a real explanation for.”
“But I want to make clear that the decision to present Adolf Hitler an award was specifically in recognition of his singular contribution to transportation reform and his unwavering support of German engineering, which is so needed in our day.”
— Cardinal Blase Cupich (close enough anyway)
To my mind, it’s worse if he did know before speaking. It would have been a great opportunity to establish that American politicians will be expected to be pro-life and not encourage the slaughter of the unborn. Instead, a measured political statement. Well, excuse me Holy Father, the last thing this world needs is another politician making measured statements, not calling evil for what it is: evil. Western civilization is being dismantled before our eyes and the Pope plays the violin as it burns, overrun by Islam and socialism. Say what you want about St. Pope John Paul II, but he didn’t overthrow communism by measured, political statements. Pope Leo needs to speak the Gospel in season and out of season. This is a Catholic moment, and he’s not doing anything to make people see the greatness of the Catholic faith!
Sorry for the rant, but I’m tired of the lack of leadership that we have in the Church.
I hear Pope Leo has spoken about this. I’ve read the answer he gave, but am still trying to process it.
“It’s Lika Dis….Da Cupe he da slippen in de fog so vaaty much zat he can’t stink as guud as he ya useesd ta so ah he gotta mak ah some ah excuse to save his ass sah and da Durb cut him sum slak see…it’s what da da say….da Chicago way ya.,”

They got a lot of money supporting illegal immigration and Soro’s Open Door Society
Acceptance, promotion, and material support of illegal immigration with all of its attendant evils is on a par with Lot shoving his daughter’s out the door. Which, other than his survival, did not end well for him.
