Thought for the Day

Unless the Democrats feel the heat, at least some of their leaders do, they will never see the light.

I think that Dr. Feser, out of a misbegotten sense of “mercy, reason, and the common good,” would have spared Agag, King of the Amalekites, as King Saul did in 1st Samuel chapter 15 instead of executing the Lord’s judgment as the prophet did. Armchair philosophers like Dr. Feser are the reason why government functionaries like Haman the Agagite in the Book of Esther get to remain in power and plot their evil. If Saul had done what the Lord had wanted done, then there would have been no Agagites in the time of Esther to plot genocide. Likewise, President Trump must never spare the evil Democrats from the consequences of their treason; otherwise, they will come back even worse than before just as Agag’s descendant Haman did.

Moderation is of course always what one seeks, but it doesn’t exist in a vacuum, especially in practical and prudential matters like politics. What is moderation in a certain state of affairs could be either pusillanimity in another or abject aggression in another.

I see it like treating cancer. In the early stages one is moderating between effectively fighting the disease and not doing needless damage to the patient. But in stage four cancer the scope of moderation is much more limited, and very aggressive and even short term harmful treatments that one would not use otherwise are necessary.

In our case the social compact has been broken, and many of our enemies do not even respect the reality of sowing and reaping enough for there to be mutually assured destruction. While our side debates the appropriate use of lawfare, in places like California they are attempting to make it legal for the state to take one’s kids if one will not trans them. One side is very serious about winning this zero sum game, the other often doesn’t even recognize that it has become a zero sum game.

I dont necessarily lump Dr Feser into that, but our society is in stage four cancer and we cannot pretend it is otherwise. And on the practical level, the light from the star of our side even getting close to crossing the line of immoderate lawfare would take about 67.9 billion years to reach the earth. One can be very aggressive and crafty and still be just, and when the social compact is broken one has no choice but to do so. Perhaps not an ideal state of affairs, but the real state of affairs whether we wish it or not.

Amen to both LQC and Jason. We are at the stage where “That’s not who we are” is suicide for the Republic. The National Review crowd needs to get with it.

The Republican Senate caucus attempted a peace offering in 1993-94 by allowing two Democratic nominees to the Supreme Court to sail through without comment. You can see how the Democrats responded in 2006 and 2018 (not to mention the physical intimidation campaign against several Republican appointments to the court during the Puppetmaster’s regime). What was amusing about that is that partisan Democrats in fora like this (as well as poseurs like George Will) were enraged when Glitch McConnell told Obama and Merrick Garland that they’d have to wait ten months (and retain the Presidency) if they wanted hearings. Nothing was done to injure Garland in any way. What we’ve learned about Garland in the interim is that he is unfit to be walking the streets.

Dr. Feser also assumes that there is no basis for the investigations and charges. We had a look at what actual predatory behavior by public officials was in New York and other loci during the Puppetmaster’s regime, and this is not as yet it.

Great answer. I have had continuing difficulties with Feser, whom I used to enjoy.

Art brings up what I believe to be the crucial point.

“Dr. Feser also assumes that there is no basis for the investigations and charges.”

For every provable, winnable case of serious crime by a Democrat politician, there should be prosecution. I’ll go a step further. For every case where the outcome is in doubt, but *discovery* produces information that needs to be known to the public, prosecution.
Shirking this crucial maintenance to the Republic because we don’t want it done to our party is dastardly cowardice. A) I want the rotten SOBs of both parties exposed and punished B) Even if we misuse prosecutorial discretion to give Dems a pass, they will come after Republicans. With or without basis.

If their feet are not held to the fire you could see and hear this….again….yikes;

We must together. Work together. To see where we are. Where we are headed, where we are going and our vision for where we should be. But also see it as a moment to, yes. Together, address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment.”

Remember. She was the Vice President of these United States and the pick to become President. The President!

We have a small window to right the wrongs and that time is now, IMHO.

I think right now the Democrats see too much light and reject it. Until they see the dark interior of a jail cell, they will not admit to walking in darkness.

I dunno … I remember before the election there was a lot of talk about 300k+ missing children … I wouldn’t mind if the DOJ and FBI could spare a few people to look for them. Does everybody need to be tasked at digging up dirt on Trump’s political enemies?

Refusing to punish the wicked because of fear of judgment being defamed as vengeance is also an injustice.

It’s only tin-pot dictator stuff when they do it. I’m sure our lawfare won’t negatively affect American society at all.

I’m all for punishing the guilty, but in a just society arrests trials and convictions generally precede the punishment phase.

I’m sure those arrest warrants will be drawn up any day now.
