When it comes to his loyal base Trump is usually sure footed. His attempt to make his Epstein problem go away by using his usual bluster and bloviation is a mistake. Suspicion of the Deep State is an article of faith for MAGA. Trump said that everything about Epstein would be revealed and now his Attorney General and his FBI are saying “Never mind! Nothing to see here! Go about your business!
To quote Talleyrand, it is worse than a crime, it is a mistake. He had his enemies on the run and now he has disheartened his friends and handed a sword to his foes.
The pedophiles on this purported Epstein list must be brought to justice no matter what. They will never stop preying on children, and saying that Epstein is a dead sex pervert creep, about whom no one cares, may be true (I certainly don’t give a care about him), but does nothing to prevent the criminals, whom he served and shielded, from continuing to abuse children. Regardless of losing his MAGA base, that is the real point, on which President Trump should focus: children were abused and criminals are escaping without due penalty.

I don’t mind when the left gaslights- that’s what they do. It’s when your own “side” tries to do it to you that it gets irksome. I like President Trump, but, um, no, don’t gaslight me. If the Epstein files were created by Obama et al., then why did you promise to release them?
We are not at all worried about the MAGA movement being hurt by them, so that bit of gaslighting can be dispensed with as well. The reason MAGA wants them released is to see the highest echelons of politics and culture exposed for the degenerates they are and brought to justice. If the files are fake, then release the files with big FAKE stamps on them along with the evidence showing Obama et al. created them. Seems like a no-lose situation if that is true.
Honestly, this type of thing does not bode well for the future of our nation. Very few actually care about Epstein per se; it’s rather what the whole debacle represents, that there is never accountability, even when “we” are in charge. If even a supposed outsider like Trump cannot “drain the swamp,” then people are left with little recourse politically, which often ends in non political means being employed.
I think Trump is currently misunderstanding much of his base, which wants exposure and accountability and consequences. If he wants to keep his coalition together come the midterms and keep Bondi on, they need a high profile prosecution and conviction ASAP, someone like a Fauci. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if Bondi is gone by next weekend.
Maxwell must be aware of who was doing what on the island. The fact that she is prison instead of witness protection infuriates and baffles me.

Uh huh. I think it debatable whether those youth have near this degree of innocence. We begin teaching safe sex around 5th grade and schools have become advocates for LGBT and transgender “rights”. We’ve been depending on “ick factor” to convict anyone of a sex crime for decades now. We certainly have not had cause to convict anyone based on morals.
