Just goes to show that the will to power is not a reason for anyone to remain in a particular church. Those numbers are fascinating, I must admit.
I figured that Henry the 8th would be frozen not whirring
Rather appropriate that PBS is presently running the British series about the English reformation, Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII entitled Wolfe Hall. This one differs from previous efforts on the subjects as it shows more of the cruelty and venality of the characters of the period. Certainly not perfect but some better.
The Church of England is a fragmented Church that operates its Parishes as franchises. It lacks the magisterium that the Catholic Church has which is why there isn’t morally agreed upon truths eg. homosexuality.
It is very wealthy due to its decentralised structure, clever investments and generous older population. It’s runs some of the wealthiest private education institutions in the world. But I suspect the reason in decline in Church attendance is due to the younger generation that has not adopted the faith of their older parents. It’s kinda an old-fashioned dying Church whose only life-line is its wealth and prestige. And even that is not forever.
That Anglican attendance is declining more rapidly than Catholic attendance is not something about which I’d crow. (How many of those Catholics in attendance are guest workers from Poland?).

British Poles are included in the UK Catholic demographics. The Polish military came to UK after the Nazis had taken over their country. Fall of the Iron Curtain increased immigration to Britain. Now many Polish born are returning to Poland as the job opportunities are better than the UK. Polish is the third most language spoken in the UK.
Large number of Lithuanians in Ireland figure in the the Catholics demographics there.
Perhaps the change in Catholic numbers can be attributed to the martyrs of the Reformation praying from on high.
Ah, I thought that voice seemed familiar. The same fellow portrayed Thomas More.
