Few things make me angrier than recalling the period when hysteria was in the saddle during the Covid years. One of the chief instigators of that hysteria was Fauci. President Biden, or rather his autopen, pardoned Fauci as he left office. You can only plead the Fifth because your answers may tend to incriminate you as to criminal charges. Is Fauci admitting that he has been engaged in criminal conduct since the pardon? One of the more loathsome public figures in contemporary American history.

Can he plead the 5th after receiving a blanket pardon for everything Covid?
Probably not, at least as to questions pertaining to Covid. He said he was taking the Fifth in his opening statement to avoid a perjury trap, but no perjury trap can occur if questions are answered truthfully, and the Fifth would be inapplicable in such a case. I assume the House will vote to hold him in contempt and refer him to the DOJ for prosecution in failing to testify.
My favorite use of the Fifth Amendment was when a gangster invoked the Fifth Commandment to avoid testifying.
Was watching the start of the hearings. Most disgusting were the demo toadies who still spoke to praise Fauci for his performance during covid.
