Few things make me angrier than recalling the period when hysteria was in the saddle during the Covid years. One of the chief instigators of that hysteria was Fauci. President Biden, or rather his autopen, pardoned Fauci as he left office. You can only plead the Fifth because your answers may tend to incriminate you as to criminal charges. Is Fauci admitting that he has been engaged in criminal conduct since the pardon? One of the more loathsome public figures in contemporary American history.

Can he plead the 5th after receiving a blanket pardon for everything Covid?
Probably not, at least as to questions pertaining to Covid. He said he was taking the Fifth in his opening statement to avoid a perjury trap, but no perjury trap can occur if questions are answered truthfully, and the Fifth would be inapplicable in such a case. I assume the House will vote to hold him in contempt and refer him to the DOJ for prosecution in failing to testify.
My favorite use of the Fifth Amendment was when a gangster invoked the Fifth Commandment to avoid testifying.
Was watching the start of the hearings. Most disgusting were the demo toadies who still spoke to praise Fauci for his performance during covid.
Of course he pleads the 5th because he is as guilty as , well, SIN. He is responsible for countless deaths and sufferings.

Additionally, I think pardoning someone before they are convicted runs contrary to the spirit and the letter of the Constitution.
Rand Paul is incensed with the damage to the country and to our health… but also with the damage done to the medical profession – his profession.

Many people really, really, really want you to forget how the COVID lockdowns actually were. “Haha, wasn’t it kind of zany how we didn’t have to go into work? But we got through it, so no big deal.”
When you remind them of the many insane and dehumanizing policies that were in place back then, they instantly switch to saying that COVID nearly killed us all and that all those policies were justified and actually maybe we still should be wearing face masks.
If nothing else, 2020 showed the tremendous and lasting impact of propaganda.
He’s emblematic and average loathsome rather than exceptionally loathsome. Exceptionally loathsome would be someone like Keith Ellison, Letitia James, and the succession of Democratic operatives in robes.

Fauci’s activities (and those of Samantha Power at USAID) suggest some policy responses. (1) End the grant money tsunami; you provide services with the agency’s own personnel or you solicit sealed bids on work to be contracted out. (2) have mandatory retirement for government employees: if you’ve (a) reached the age of 76 or (b) you are eligible for Medicare, eligible for full Social Security, and have paid into a government’s retirement system for 35 years (FTE), you’re retired. (3) If you’ve held a particular discretionary appointment for 12 of the last 14 years, your tenure is at an end (without regard to your chronological age), (4) government employees are eligible for patents, trademarks, and copyrights only on work undertaken off premises, (5) break up the Centers for Disease Control and sort the fragments over several federal departments.
The whole Fauci saga between then and now is going to be a large scale reminder of how it is easier to fool people than convince them they have been fooled.
Which is why nothing is going to happen. If something does, the Hillary Clinton defense (“what difference…”) will be screamed from the rooftops as loud as possible.
We are so screwed.
COVID-19 proved to be very disruptive. The Trump economy was doing very well until the pandemic and the economic lockdowns. Biowarfare doesn’t need to be totally lethal to have an effect on an adversary. China’s uncooperative conduct has been suggestive of an opportunistic version of biowarfare. It got rid of Trump, who was a thorn in China’s side. Of course, this is speculation.

No matter what your views of its origins are, the COVID-19 pandemic would fit right in with low-intensity biowarfare scenarios. In ways the pandemic looks like a less lethal version of the “Andromeda Strain” movie, with Scoop and Wildfire. People became totally unhinged and were at each other’s throats. No dissent was allowed. Civil rights were freely disregarded. Level-headed thinking appeared to be unacceptable. I have two risk factors for COVID-19 and I thought that there had be better ways than lockdowns that destroyed small businesses and the livelihoods that they had provided.

The ruling classes were often found violating their own rules that they imposed on others. Things like not wearing masks, and engaging in activities that they scolded others about. Do as I say, not as I do. A serious lack of solidarity between the ruling classes and the common person on the street. That is why so much of the claimed science was shown to be political science. The lockdowns were very effective in allowing the establishment political classes to accumulate political power. A medical police state is still a police state. The pandemic stress test of our ruling classes and society in general showed a lot of rot and decay. Our behavior proved the effectiveness of biowarfare.
Fauci was complicit in developing the bat virus. 27,000 old people died in New York and many more across the nation. In Nancy Pelosi’s words: “Look at how much money we save.”
I tried to watch the hearings but you can’t imagine how angry I became when he took the 5th. He had doctors and professionals silenced so there was no opposition to the Covid narrative.
In Virginia during Covid we had the evil Northam as governor. His profession was neonatal neurology. He was in lock step with Fauci. He closed the clinics. I knew a woman who died because she could not receive chemo for reproductive cancer. Also a neighbor who has a very disfigured face due to advanced sun cancer because the chemo clinic was closed.
The Bishops Lenten Campaign is way down each year because parishioners still remember that the bishops did not stand up to Northam when he closed the churches.
