Surprise!

Go here to read the story.  A demonstration of how dependent on Federal largesse our hapless bench of bishops have become.  Note that there is not even an attempt to raise private funds to continue to facilitate the illegal alien invasion.  Bad enough if the bishops were doing this out of twisted principle, but it appears to be a purely mercenary undertaking.

I am glad to see the grift being exposed, and this all confirms the suspicion that bishops are largely appointed for their go-along, get-along approach to said grift. There are exceptions, but those are the ones that seem to fall through the cracks.

If the work was so noble, so important, so central to Christ’s mission, they should have ordered the hat to be passed today.

Anyone seeing that?

Didn’t think so.

Why is it that whenever social justice issues like illegal immigration is involved, the Democrats and the Institutional Catholic Church are in lock step, but whenever moral issues like transgender mutilation of children and murder of babies in the womb are involved, the Democrats cry, “Separation of Church and State”?

IMO, it would be beneficial to the Church in America if the Conference of Catholic Bishops and its associated staff ceased to exist. Come to think of it, it would be agreeable if the diocesan staff was limited to technicians who provided services to parish clusters (e.g. preparing financial statements or providing IT support), auditors monitoring parish activity, a vocations promoter, miscellaneous pooled services (e.g. legal counsel), a tribunal, and a central repository of records. Ideally, the only ordained persons on the premises would be the Bishop, the auxilliary bishop(s) and the vocations promoter.

I agree completely with Art D and the others here.

Object lesson in the total detatchment from reality of most US bishops: Our parish is passing out one-page flyers after each Mass this weekend, supplied by the Chancery, which advise “residents” that they have the same rights vis-a-vis law enforcement officers as do citizens. (While I’ve not gone back to review my prior research on the issue, IIRC, people here illegally do not share all the same Constitutional rights as citizens, though in some states there may be laws to the contrary, which should, IMO, be deemed pre-empted by Federal law on the subject. But no such laws exist here in Texas.) So, on the same weekend as the annual “Bishop’s Appeal”, we get handed pro-illegal immigrant propaganda, produced with OUR money, giving bad legal advice which openly defies Federal law and policy, and no one in the Diocesan offices seems to realize the irony.

Shut them down.

A bit of advice that I always use is “Follow the money.” It works here too. The Pope with his China accord and now this. All I have to say is Proverbs 28:13 and John 8:32.
