In many ways Star Trek Deep Space Nine is some of the finest Trek. The Dominion War story arc was Deep Space Nine at its best, especially in its transformation of Legate Damar of Cardassia from minor drunken villain to the self sacrificing leader of the Cardassian War of Liberation. Actor Casey Biggs showed in realistic fashion the slow transformation of Damar from minor second banana to a statesman who seeks to lead his people onto new paths. Science Fiction on television does not get better than this.
Legate Damar’s rebellion speech against the Dominion should by ours against the godless Democrats in DC and the heretical clerics in the USCCB & the Vatican. I am sure Judas Maccabeus must have said something similar to rally his troops against the pagan Seleucids.
