Whoever owns copies of those books has a lot of money now, especially if the books are in good condition.
DJH- It’s satisfying to see that the value of Dr Seuss books has sky-rocketed on the secondary market and they are occupying the current top-selling book lists. Amazon selling $5 hardcovers for $50…This should speak volumes about freedom and the right to express it creatively. The creatives who always bang on about freedom of expression have been silent and gutless.
I’ve actually seen several I thought wouldn’t say this is no problem. In fact some said they were glad those books were pulled. Again, from individuals normally upset about what we’re seeing. Which I imagine why we keep seeing this sort of thing that otherwise tends to upset them.
Don, does your wife remember the late Judith Krug, the ‘librarian’ who spent her entire career editing the Newsletter on Intellectual Freedom? Now’s the time for the wannabe rebels at whichever godforsaken Round Table of the American Library Administration is charged with issuing animadversions about ‘censorship’ to show they’re at least consistent. (These people were split down the middle about issuing a statement in support of Cuba’s off-the-books house librarians because the Round Table in question was peopled by twits like Rory Litwin who admire the Castro brothers).
