Nothing Too Good For Our Troops

For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool — you bet that Tommy sees!

Tommy, Rudyard Kipling

Even when they need them, the contempt that the Left has for our service men finds a way to come out.  Does anyone think that President Trump would have stood for this?  Of course, he had no need to station an army of occupation in Washington.

A dear friend who was in the Army for a 31 month period ending in December 1945 once gave me a precis of what they were fed (evidently K-rations were the worst). I don’t think military cuisine has ever been great. The thing is, real per capita income is as we speak about 5x what it was in 1940. Some of that increased affluence should have been expressed in the quality of institutional food.

Luckily, the goose-steppers aren’t humping around 70 lb. rucks all day.

When you’re hungry, you eat what you get. The breakfasts and beanie-weenies were trade material. They had a cracker and candy.

I have a P-38 [folding GI can opener came with the rations] on my dog tags and use it whenever the electric one doesn’t do the job.

Of course, they won’t feed them in the Congressional Cafeteria.

I’m starting to think it may not be the internet turning soldiers into anti-government radicals…

The states that brought their folks home weeks ago are looking pretty smart, now.

I called both my State Senator and Representative. Both GOP. I left a voice mail with the Senator. The person who answered the Rep’s phone in Lansing said she didn’t know what could be done about the situation. The Legislature apparently has no control over the National Guard. I find this a very odd statement–especially given that my Rep has been outspoken about taxpayer-provided hush money given to the former Health Dept Director. I am thinking she is looking to climb the Congressional ladder and is looking for good publicity.

Useless, time serving politicians.

I assume it was a staff member who did not know, though it wouldn’t surprise me if the state rep hasn’t a clue either. Purchasing vittles for the National Guard is something I imagine someone in the bureaucracy several steps from the Governor arranges. I’d be fascinated to know what their excuse is, but it’s like with the missing mask and ventilator stockpiles in New York, you never do get an explanation.

As a National Guard medic with an infantry unit in the early 90’s I was tasked with inspecting a dining facility our cooks were using at our annual training site. I recommended that it be shut down due to gross deficiencies with the facility itself that made it impossible to cook and serve food in a sanitary manner. We would have been better off if they were cooking in tents. They kept it open.

Those metal fragments look like bits from the sort of stainless steel scrubber I clean my skillets with. Which leads me to wonder about the water they cooked that rice in. This is depraved behavior. Too bad no local charitable organization hasn’t stepped in to feed these soldiers.

This is is DC the land of caterers. Big events have been shut down so why not contract w/ several of them to cook n cater. I’d like a break down in print out of the $ Billion cost of having the Guard in and around DC. The largest expense is salaries. That still leaves mega bucks for rations. Gen. Honore is in charge overall so he’s a contact. Plus every state should have an Adjutant General than can be contacted. I was on FOX News on my phone this am; they are looking for stories and have email address embedded. MRE rations are somewhat palatable and don’t make one sick. Good idea about meal cards for the troops, Southcoast. Also this is Girl Scout cookie month. Some Scout troops have a community service project “Troops For Troops”. They used to adopt commands or a relative’s units and enclose cards n drawings with the cookies….good for moral. I suspect the boxes sent overseas may have been used for barter instead of cigs.

The media has spent weeks hyping up today as a repeat of January 6. It’s not hard to see that this is less predicting on their part than hoping. But as of yet, absolutely nothing has happened. A few outlets have published stories admitting this, usually framing it as proof of the failed predictions of conservative conspiracy theorists (as if the news had nothing to do with spreading the predictions). Nevertheless the threat has caused the capitol police to request that the national guard remain for “just” two more months.

I’m surprised that KBR didn’t get a contract providing dinning and other services needed as thy have for deployed troops Iraq and Afghanistan.

Support for the National Guard in DC Seems that indicate logistical incompetence. Perhaps this administration should put purging conservatives on hold with its desire to restart Middle East military adventures.

I think only Joe Biden would be incompetent enough to start military adventures while facilitating an exodus of members from military service.

If the Democrats are forced to bring back a draft they may see the large ugly riots they seem to relish.

Think about how much I used to complain about Navy chow makes me feel guilty now. The contempt the left shows for our military as they using them as a means to their nefarious ends is all the more worthy of contempt!
