Sure It Isn’t Purgatory?

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

HEAVEN — Celestial sources say that Scott Adams, creator of the “Dilbert” comic strip, has just been shown to the glorious heavenly cubicle where he will spend the rest of eternity praising God.

According to St. Peter, the renowned comic artist passed his final performance review with flying colors by claiming the accomplishments, challenges faced, and progress on goals of his new boss, Jesus Christ, as his own through faith.

“Scott is now happily situated in his very own celestial cubicle drawing more Dilbert comics,” St. Peter said in a memo circulated to other heavenly associates. “As a valued member of our community, he has been equipped with a state-of-the-art Dell computer running Windows XP, a free stapler, and an unlimited supply of coffee for the rest of eternity.”

Scott’s cubicle neighbors say he is a fantastic addition to their team.

“He doesn’t voice-text, which is great,” said one of the angels. “He might not have one of the nice offices down the hall, but we’re all so glad to welcome a new collaborator. I think I’m going to ask him to go make me some copies now.”

Almost certainly Purgatory.
Adams, according to the Not the Bee article, made a profession of faith that was very Pascal’s wager. A decision to believe in Jesus instead of the void. I suspect a great deal of purification will be needed before he arrives in Heaven.
Protestants comments insinuate that Adams is now in Heaven due to the combination of two heresies : “there is no purgatory” and “say the words once and all’s good”

Make no mistake, I truly hope Adams made it to Purgatory, and will pray for his speedy progress from that place. What saddens me is how much more speedily he would progress if people prayed for the dead instead of canonizing them.

St. Sebastian bears arrows, St. Bartholomew carries his skin, Scott Adams has Windows XP. It makes sense.

Optimist – Yeah, the lack of prayers for the souls in Purgatory is maddening, but also the failure to offer up sufferings for them. That’s different than heresy, it’s complete ignorance, and wasted opportunity. Moderns don’t understand the potential value in suffering.

Pinky-
I agree that most moderns do not know the value of suffering.
I have a hard time keeping the value of suffering in the cross hairs and I was better catechized than most.
Modern CCD and OCIA are generally pretty thin stuff and sadly even stray into error. The $30 color workbook my kid brings home from CCD is far, far inferior to a $4 copy of the Baltimore catechism!
