Leftists are always Leftists first, everything else, fifth.
Taking Christ Out of Christmas
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Jesus Christ is a citizen of the world; actually the universe if the universe has citizenship.
Herod made the Holy Family flee to Egypt for relief of oppression, tyranny and murder.
ICE is not the problem. The denial of self-defense, sovereignty of nations and Justice in all cases of illegal invaders usurping citizenship and benefits without permission, without consent and without gratitude make the illegal invaders a plague.
The rest is plain ignorance, evil ignorance and abuse of other persons’ religious beliefs, not to mention blasphemy.
May God have mercy on their immortal souls.
The priest here has been at this parish for years, doing the Current Thing. Last year it was Gaza, and now he’s moved on. It’s his dwindling exile parish where he gets to do stunts and preen before he superannuates.
The worst thing he can imagine is being ignored.
Well, his catering to lefty talking points kept him from putting Christ in the manger before Christmas. I’ll take that part as a win.
Yikes. I can’t think of anything interesting to say here, but yikes.
Boston: “Archdiocese’s Secretary for Communications and Public Affairs Terrence Donilon called the sign “divisive political messaging,” urging the parish to remove the sign.. “
Ordering!.. would have been better, but that’s a start.
The Holy Family were not “undocumented immigrants” in either Bethlehem or Egypt. In Bethlehem they were there to take part in a legal census. In Egypt, they were simply moving temporarily to another province of the Roman Empire, much as one might move between U.S. states today.
Don, I would urge you to tell Tito Edwards to change the calumnious headline he has concocted to link this story, namely “Boston Archbishop Richard G. Henning Hates the Catholic Church”. I can assure you that the Archbishop does not hate the Catholic Church and that the headline is a despicable falsehood used only to generate clicks. I would be ashamed to have anything I had written associated with such a spurious lede and I hope you are also.
I agree with Bob. The headline was totally misleading.
Many Catholics willfully ignore Christ, and this religious void has opened the door for others who have different beliefs.
would be ashamed to have anything I had written associated with such a spurious lede and I hope you are also.
Tito will write as he sees fit, just as I will write as I see fit. I would note that we very rarely consult about what anyone on the blog, and this is a group blog, writes. It does strike me as a very odd statement, as the Archdiocese, I believe, has ordered the removal of the offensive nativity scene which was the subject matter of my post.
