May his soul rest in peace. More details as they become available.
The Vatican has announced that the Pope died of a cerebral stroke, resulting in coma and complete cardiovascular collapse. PopeWatch has suspected that his release from the hospital was in effect a release into hospice, with his eminent death expected. The increasing visibility of the Pope over the past week was likely his Doctors giving the way to the Pope’s wishes, the Doctors concluding that with his death being soon in any case, why not allow him to go out as he wished to go out.
Requiescat in pace.
Now the hard part is all the news articles with the following comment sections of which few seem to know the good manners of “De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est.”
Yes, a difficult papacy. A very, very difficult papacy.
Nonetheless, may
the angels guide thee, P Francis.
God grant him eternal rest.
May God have mercy on his soul. We shall all go to our own judgement when our time comes, and I hope I am likewise shown mercy when I meet my Maker. And may it please God that our new Pope, whoever he may be, will be a good vicar of Christ.
Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine
et lux perpetua luceat ei.
Requiescat in pace.
Amen.
Prayers for his soul.
I have been very critical of Pope Francis. But now that he is gone, I am very sad. As Stephen Phoenix wrote, “De mortuis ni nisi bonum dicendum est.”
Papa Franciscus requiescat in pace et caritate nostri Domini et Salvatoris Iesus Christi. Amen.

May his Soul rest in Eternal Peace.
The Steward has been called to meet the King.
May God grant him (and all of us) the grace to be properly prepared at that most critical moment.
I knew it was coming with that hospital shot where he looked like Mom.
I did not like his pontificate, but who am I to judge?
Now God will.
May Our Lord have mercy on him, as I hope He will on me.
I pray for the repose of Pope Francis’s soul, and that he confessed his sins in his final moments. It’s interesting that he held on until Easter…many people die on or shortly after their birthday (or some other anniversary), perhaps trying to observe that last important day.
May our merciful Lord grant us a good next pope who will undo the synod nonsense and stop persecuting the faithful among other means of restoring what has been lost. And no more (please God) unsavory bishop appointments. Tall order, I know. There is a novena to start to St. Catherine of Siena that starts today and may she intercede for a good Catholic next pope.
May St. Peter intercede that we get a good pope, and may St. Catherine of Siena intercede that we be unwaveringly obedient to the pope whatever his flaws.
