Materialism is always a philosophical dead end. Man only transcends his flesh when he realizes that the supernatural is real and that we are all children of a loving God who died for us.

Great quote, indeed.
When I taught only guys (for a long time), I would occasionally foray into thought exercises such as “if you were allowed to do whatever/wherever/whoever you wanted for 90 days without consequence, you’d be bored out of your minds sometimes between day 20 and 30”
Of course they (being teenagers) would laugh at me and deny it but then it dawned on them what I was trying to get at – we are designed for higher purposes, and quenching only the flesh is, as our host says, a dead end.
Excellent point, Josh. I well remember an episode of The Twilight Zone in which a small-time gambler dies and awakens in a casino populated with beautiful, fawning women and games that he keeps winning. At the end (Spoiler alert!), after the initial excitement wears off, he says something to the effect that he never thought Heaven would be so boring. To which his “host” replies, “Whatever made you think you were in Heaven?”
