Go here to read the rest. The Secret Service used to enjoy a reputation for courage and efficiency. The Trump almost assassination has revealed them to be another government agency led by idiots. Don’t think our adversaries haven’t taken note and have concluded that, whenever they need to spread chaos before making a move against us, some well timed assassinations would be a good first step. An untrained 20 year old came within less than an inch of changing the course of US history. Imagine what two or three assassins, with some basic training, could accomplish. After Trump gets back in, God willing, the root and branch reform of the Secret Service should be high on his priority list.

I know a few retired Secret Service agents (“benefits” of swimming in the Beltway for 30+ years) and they are absolutely fuming, liberal and conservative alike.
Being part of it was similar to getting into the SEALS/Rangers, etc. – certain requirements and expectations were necessary, like being able to face down fire and deal with difficult circumstances.
Are we going to end up with a private-based Praetorian Guard eventually? It’s certainly possible at this rate.
Josh, excellent point. I was just thinking that, as we have already achieved Banana Republic status with the lawfare, state-run media propaganda 24/7, and wholesale corruption of the administrative state and Federal law enforcement, it might be prudent for Trump to consider just such an option. Or else personally select his own USSS detail based on their political views as well as their more neutral qualifications. Anything less seems extremely dangerous, at this point.
I can’t believe I just wrote that. But I still believe it. Sad.
Frank, I read your comment and I thought of what I’d noticed about the security detail surrounding President Trump when he made his surprise early visit to the Republican convention. It’s been so soon after the assassination attempt, and not an obvious DEI hire in sight. Trump may very well have made the sort of changes you’ve described.
Here’s hoping.
I guess when they claim to give us transparency in government, what they mean is making it transparently obvious that they’re lying.
Reportedly, the USSS has a quota system in place: the goal is to have 30% of recruits female (or fake-female, a.k.a. transgender). There are already similar quotas in operation in the military, the Department of the Navy for one. I recently learned of a very deep select at the O-6 selection boards: 16 lineal numbers below the lowest “in zone” candidate. Female, progressive, childless. And she was given orders to an Echelon 2 command as a brand-new O-6, promoted 3-5 years before her peers.
The job requirement of a Secret Service Agent is a willingness to take a bullet for the person being protected…otherwise wrap them in bubble wrap and sing them a lullaby…you get this sort of leadership when management directs from their office and is fixated on processes and procedures and looses touch with what’s needed on the ground. Agree with other commenters below- Trump should hire his own protection.
Trashing civil service examinations has been a project of lawfare artists for over 40 years. As we speak, the whole nexus of silliness is called DEI. The purpose of federal agencies is to provide patronage for regime pets, not to perform any statutory function. This is what you get with that.
In a sane world, the ‘public-interest lawyers’, judges, and politicians who did this to us would be prosecuted for treachery and sent up for long sentences. We live in clown world, so that will never happen.
