And a Cold Shiver Goes Down the Spine of Biden Strategists

May the family member identities in need of union of Biden and Trump in their male female marriages together with that of Pope Francis in his consecrated celibate marriage vowed to man in Christ unite in authorising advantageous combining of all the procreation gift role activities in the pro-physical life of Trump and pro-spiritual life of Biden. Thank you, Donald.
And the reason for this is simple, and Democrat strategist should pay attention. The oil embargo in the early 70s caused the stagflation that took us more than a decade to work through. Single-handedly, Biden did the same thing Shutting down oil, production, pipeline, etc. And the cost of fuel doubled And the result is the same. Stagflation, here we come. Translation stop listening to Greta and start listening to Joe six pack when he fills up his tank Increased energy costs ripple through the economy at every level.

Disagree. Markets for goods and services and the labor market were mangled by the affection in Congress for price controls and price manipulation, as well as our wretched system of industrial relations. Richard Nixon was implicated in this as well, though not his successors. Jimmy Carter put a lot of chips on the table in a partially successful attempt to remove controls in some sectors, including petroleum products. One of Reagan’s initiatives was to make maximum use of his legal discretion to remove controls in this last sector. OPEC collapsed within five years.

The price dynamics of particular markets have only a transient effect on measurable inflation. The problem at the time was that the Federal Reserve had no commitment to restoring price stability. You can blame Arthur Burns more than any other person for that; he was Richard Nixon’s appointee. Mr. Carter installed Paul Volcker in 1979. Volcker actually did have a commitment to restoring price stability, but Carter demand he hold off to avoid a recession during an election year. The inflation was so wretched in 1979-80 it wrecked Carter’s chances anyway. NB, Arthur Burns’ predecessor managed to restore price stability in 1951-52 and Paul Volcker managed to do the same in 1981-82. The one was accomplished in a regime of fixed exchange rates and the other with floating rates. Mr. Volcker’s method was to set targets for the growth of monetary aggregates and let interest rates fluctuate. You could have accomplished the same in 1969-70. You’d have had an interim period of high unemployment and some electoral losses.

The Democrats don’t appear to be too concerned about Trump’s overwhelming popularity with voters. They certainly don’t seem to see a need to alter their policies to widen their party’s appeal.
Why, it’s almost as if they believed the needs and opinions of the great majority of American voters won’t affect the results of this upcoming election…
Ballots or bullets is always the question lurking in the background for every democracy Clinton. I think the Democrats are quite scared which is why the mainstream press is suddenly thinking the unthinkable: Dumping Zombie Biden.
It’s my understanding that Trump has always been good to the Black Communities. Did he not grow up a stones throw away in Queens…? He still speaks in that “Queens” accent. Why wouldn’t he get 30k to a rally in the Bronx…
Don:
If the Dems had held a normal primary season, Biden and Harris would be gone (and who knows who they’d have, but he’d likely possess a living brain). Problem with discarding Biden is Harris, who’s an even worse candidate. To discard Biden for Harris would be a disaster, but to discard BOTH Biden AND Harris would be greater disaster. The Democrats choked off the normal cursus honorum of their party years ago to run Hillary, who lost, then to put Biden in. They’ve had no real open primary season for years and so no serious or tested younger challengers. Democrats have had no popular choice of Democratic nominee in years. Republicans. on the other hand, have selected Trump through very contentious primaries.
Good analysis Tom. The Democrats are in a lose-lose situation and I bet some of their better strategists are plotting out what moves would produce the least disaster for them/
Reminder that after Donald Trump wins, we must jail all the people who forced him into this corner.
