Excellent post!
It’s odd tho to hear the popesplainers, who just a minute were railing against BXVI, now if anyone doesn’t like the way the pope sneezes, heretic!
But yes, thank Feser for proper boundaries
So….what happens if the “pope” doesn’t do what he is supposed to do and then does things he supposedly can’t do?
And most people are just fine with that…
Plenty of papal initiatives end up on the ash heap of history. Voicing disapproval ab initio helps that process along.

Didn’t Francis claim temporal authority recently?

He is to be ignored. That and nothing more.
Don’t confuse them with the facts Don. They finally got a pontiff who will allow every immoral act that they want to participate in without having to deal with that troublesome thing called a conscience. No annulment needed. Check. Worship creation instead of the creator. Check. No deportation. Check. No capital punishment. Check. No justice, no peace. Check. Pretend marriage ceremonies via “blessings” Check. Even though he’s not a very good pope, they need something to deal with the fact that they are sociopaths. Interesting how they went from “We can ignore the pope, he isn’t an absolute ruler” to “The pope is right, you have to listen to him. He’s Pope! at the speed of light.
