Would it be very uncharitable of me to assume the Pope is rather worried about “transing away the gay”?
Possibly DJH, but Damian Thompson tweeted a couple of weeks ago that he really had “African” views towards the gays, but he hated his conservative American critics worse, and uses the gay ideology to attack conservatives in the Church.
Whole thing sounds a bit like a politician during election season trying to dance between the issues.
The Pope asks for “studies to be done” (like he asked for re: women deacons) because gender theory is the “ugliest danger” which “cancels out differences“. How about it’s ugly and dangerous because it’s based on a mountain of lies?

I don’t trust what he is saying. Nor do I believe him. What is he up to…?
@Steven:
.
The hierarchy seems filled with gays, groomers, possibly even a few pedophiles (not simply ephebophiles). (And yes, even some who have abused women.) Pope Francis does not seem to mind them. In fact, he seems to have surrounded himself by them, so I doubt he has “African” views on homosexuals.
Francis has a history of telling people what they want to hear, and then contradicting what he said with a different audience. Talk is cheap— to get a handle on what he really thinks and wants, one has to look at what he does and doesn’t do, and with whom he chooses to surround himself, and who he promotes and who he banishes.
It’s not pretty.
