PopeWatch: Second Dubia

Go here to read the story.  Interesting that the Pope did not ignore this Dubia as he did the first.  Interesting also that the Vatican did not reveal this well before the  Synod started to lessen the impact and to get ahead of the story.  If the Pope decided all this, he isn’t very good at playing Chess.

I like theNotification to Christ Faithful, that they included in their post;

…in view of various declarations of highly-placed Prelates, pertaining to the celebration of the next Synod of Bishops, that are openly contrary to the constant doctrine and discipline of the Church, and that have generated and continue to generate great confusion and the falling into error among the faithful and other persons of good will, have manifested our deepest concern to the Roman Pontiff.

God, help your Holy Catholic Church.

Fr Longenecker (sp) said that’s how ss “marriage” happened in Anglican Church – first step was “blessing”.
Also, I’ve see in comments that some of these men think they were born this way. This is what happens when an abused child is not given help and I think this is fruits of not doing what you were supposed to in response to sex abuse in Church

The Vat’s whole response to this is, dare I say, jesuitical. What is a sin for you is not a sin for them becuase I haven’t told them it’s a sin. So if people aren’t taught what is a sin, they cannot be held to account for what would be a sin if they were informed Catholics.

In a way, Francis did ignore the Cardinals’ Dubia. The first version the Cardinals submitted on 10 July followed the usual form of ‘yes or no’ questions. Yes, Francis responded to the July Dubia, but instead of simple yes/no answers, he opted to reply with what I’d describe as evasive word salad; giving the appearance of a response without the substance of an actual answer.

As the Cardinals themselves say, it was in the hope of getting clear yes-or-no answers from Francis that the Cardinals reformulated their questions and re-submitted their Dubia on 21 August.

It would take only five yes-or-no responses from Francis to actually respond to the Cardinals’ request for clarification. However, in the six weeks since the Dubia were resubmitted, there’s been nothing but silence.

There is an old saying “Roma locuta est, causa finita est”— Rome has spoken, the matter is closed. In this case, Francis seems to wish to avoid an answer and declare the matter closed anyway.

It is very illuminating. No absolutes, exceptions that swallow the rule and groundwork for further demolition.

But people will still hallucinate that the man is orthodox. Mass delusion is real.

What is going on with the Synod is very much like what went on in the Church of Corinth. The dubia responses could be helped by a referral to First Corinthians where the intellectual sophisticates tried to defend the eating of meat offered to idols. This was forbidden by the Council of Jerusalem. St. Paul went into a detailed presentation of how knowledge puffs up but love builds up.
*
7 However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through being hitherto accustomed to idols, eat food as really offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. 9 Only take care lest this liberty of yours somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if any one sees you, a man of knowledge, at table in an idol’s temple, might he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? 11 And so by your knowledge this weak man is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. 12 Thus, sinning against your brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food is a cause of my brother’s falling, I will never eat meat, lest I cause my brother to fall. (1 Corinthians 8, 7-13 RSVCE)

I read the NCR article that this article links to. At the end of the article the Pope is quoted as insisting on mandatory forgiveness in the confessional. The Pope has also made statements that at the minimum verge on universalism on the topic of salvation and the eternal nature of hell. Forgiveness without repentance fueled the clerical abuse scandal. It created more victims. If these are Pope Francis’ views on mercy and forgiveness, then he owns the clerical abuse scandal.

Re: Sin-ods: About those all of whom died who were in Rome attending a future sin-od: From my article Humbuzzers [note: sci-fi that most probably will never, can never happen]: “ Many of them were visiting here, getting ready for a so-called “synod” to begin next week, working out the new doctrines about how a small carefully selected group of the hierarchy and some like-thinking members of the laity, catholic and non-catholic, would in future have the authority to change church teaching , with these “synods” as the vehicle for foisting their own doctrinal changes and perversions of teachings on the faithful. Many of them had with them a copy of the synod’s final report, The report states that the participants have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to validate the ordination of women to the ministerial priesthood; to establish that loving persons who freely choose to engage in homosexual actions with each other are acting with virtue and can, therefore, receive the sacrament of holy matrimony; that two divorced people, in love, may marry each other in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony and be publicly accepted into the church community without the previous marriages being annulled and their love for each other will be an act of virtue, not a sin; and that the pope acting alone can issue proclamations of new doctrines which are infallible and which all the faithful are to hold as definitive.”

….Our deepest concern for the Roman Pontiff.

Our prayers could save his soul from Hell.
Seriously.
Pour on the prayers for him. That he has a moment of clarity and doesn’t go all in on his errors. That he is meek and humble of heart.

I believe that our call to action is first and foremost prayers for his conversion of heart.

LQC.

Please know that my comment is framed with the deepest charity..for You.

Don’t allow the serpent to cast you into that pool of depression. That is what he wants. He wants to get to us and this sequence of events is drawn up by old (uncle) Screwtape himself.

Instead..
Let’s keep our mind on or work.
I’m sponsoring one of my coworkers into Holy Catholic Church this Easter. She’s in her mid twenties and unchurched.

Have that unfailing faith and then cast your net for a catch!!!

This is a great opportunity to catch souls.

I’ve admired your posts for over 10 years now…wow. That long on TAC.

Grab your Rosary and your center of influence and prepare for the Victory.

God be with you my brother.

No one can come to the priesthood without a voction. Sodomy is unnatural. Marriage is natural.. Annullment says that you did not lie when you said: “I will.”Liars go to hell. Infallibility comes ex-cathedra, all bishops in unison with the Pope. If the Pope wishes to carry the burden of the people alone, it is impossible.
God does not contradict Himself. Therefore the Pope cannot put words in the mouth of God.

No one can come to the ministerial priesthood without a vocation. God has not called women to the ministerial priesthood. Therefore the Pope cannot assign a vocation where or to whom God has not.
The National Endowment for the Arts gave $25,000.00 of your tax money to a woman who doused herself with chocolate syrup and attached bean sprouts to her body. I just figured it out.

>>I am simply disgusted and depressed about all this, Folks.

I hear you, LQC, and share your disgust. There was a time when I would have been dragged down into depression. How I managed to shake that is not for this board. But your very disgust is a sign of a functioning compass that does not reduce faith in Christ into the servile obedience of an Outer Party member.

Stay focused on the duties of your life and station, pray, and take up spiritual reading. I find the counsel of the Church Fathers to be bracing and helpful. And no friend to corruption of any form.
