Of course Art does not evolve. Unlike Science, Art, beyond basic techniques and technological limitations, has less to do with the mind than with the soul. In a time of moral chaos, naturally our contemporary Art reflects that chaos.
“Modern art” is a result of man’s hubris, believing he can improve upon the Truth, Beauty and Goodness created by God. That goes for all of art’s forms, although the intentional departure from beauty seems to me most aggressive and unpleasant in the areas of music (Schoenberg, Webern, etc) and visual arts (Jackson Pollack, brutalist architecture, etc.) Beauty and originality need not be mutually exclusive. It seems that innovation for its own sake replaced beauty, and the results are what one might expect.
Someone threw a can of red paint on Jackson Pollack’s painting and nobody noticed.
The Emperor is in the altogether, that is naked. Where is Piss Serrano? Kissing sulphur.
Amazing video. I’ll agree to disagree on Modern Art. Some modern art is not so good. And some modern art is incredible. You just have to look for it.
I am not opposed to all modern Art. If you wish to stretch the term modern, I have always been a fan of the French impressionists and have one of their paintings in my waiting room. I merely think that Art tends to reflect the times in which it was made, and our times are morally chaotic.

🙂
I have learned to simply walk past, with only a cursory glance, the works that our local PC museum chose on the basis of the identity of the artist rather than the quality of the work itself. Saves a lot of wasted time trying to comprehend the nonsense.
thanks for the post, I didn’t even google that information when I was looking

Yes agree. And it also reflects the mind and state of soul of the artist. Some art is there to make a statement on a particular subject and not intended to be hung on a wall. Look at wartime artist Albert Tucker and “Images of Modern Evil” series. Horrible imagery and disturbing subject matter. But so full of meaning. A photo sometimes cannot convey what an artist can.

I think postmodernist art has a lot to answer for where “anything goes”.
