It’s very sad and scandalous

So much is going on in the world that one wouldn’t expect a comment from the Pope on aught but a few things. The trouble with Leo (and bishops generally) is that their personal interests and priorities (and those of the diocesan apparatchiks that have custody of their signature stamp) are manifest. Francis and Leo pretend that European publics are morally obligated to permit unrestricted colonization by Muslims (which includes providing material sustenance to them) and that Americans are obligated to do so in re Latin Americans. They pretend it is a matter of great moment that a reprobate who has had a personal trial and the legal help to launch decades of appeals is finally executed. They issue reflexive denunciations of the likes of Nicholas Sandmann because they actually despise the ordinary parishioners of their diocese (except as sources of donations).

Art, you’re absolutely right. The problem isn’t that he hasn’t spoken to the MA abortion law. It’s what he has chosen to speak about compared to not speaking to the MA abortion law. Some of his defenders are saying this is an ‘American thing’ and he’s pope of the entire global Church after all. Had he not waded into other ‘American’ issues while not addressing this, fine and good. But that’s clearly not the case. He has inserted himself into issues that are being hashed out in America, just not this. At least not yet. Which screams volumes. If he does, of course, then all the better and I’ll happily concede the point.

If past comments are any indication, Pope Leo will have no problem were Gov. Maura Healey to receive a lifetime achievement award from Cardinal Cupich. (Provided she doesn’t attend any Masses in Latin)

Leo has not and will not speak to this, because in his mind and the minds of his ilk the killing of an innocent child in the womb and even at birth isn’t any different from many issues…

“Someone who says I’m against abortion but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life. And someone who says I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”

.. believing that the killing of innocents in the womb is intrinsically evil and can never be approved, puts one at odds with Leo.

I take great comfort in the FACT that abortion is neither more or less evil based on what the population of Rome thinks about it – much less the opinion of one man.

Democracy doesn’t apply to morality. In terms of good and evil, God is always the authority.

It would help *people* if clerics of all ranks would call evil… evil.

Interesting times in which we live when a Protestant President known for his past philandering ways and his foul mouth is more Catholic than a Democrat cleric from Chicago formed in liberation theology Peru who now occupies the Petrine Office of which he is demonstrably unworthy. He is as contemptible as his predecessor, Jorge the Heretic.

We were in Rome last year in May and I joked with friends and family that I applied to be Pope (but apparently you had to be Catholic or something for it).

Sometimes I wonder if I would have done any worse at the job.

Now, if she would have signed legislation to reinstate the death penalty, it would have been Katy, bar the papal door!

The irony, Greg, is that Governor Healey did instate the death penalty for babies up to the moment of birth, and Leo the Liberal doesn’t give a flying frack.

Once again I think that Catholics were better off when the vast majority of Catholics would never hear a word from the Pope in their lifetimes.

The Pope’s role as Vicar of Christ and as a force to (through the Holy Spirit) preserve the Church from error are both far more important than serving as a talking head.

The death penalty is executed through the power of attorney of the condemned killer. The killer’s citizenship brings him to Justice, equal Justice.
Abortionists are killers. Abortionist killers are mercenary murderers, unconstitutionally denying the unborn their life. These killers are being applauded and protected by corrupted laws and evildoers.
Equal Justice for all demands that theses killers be held condemned or all other citizens be allowed the same protection from prosecution.

One fun reminder of “A Man for all seasons”. About 20 miles west of Oxford, beside the A40 road, there is a pub called “Inn for all Seasons”. The building itself dates back to the 16th century. But the pub, formerly The New Inn, was renamed by Jeremy Taylor who was the Horse Master on “A Man for all Seasons” and other major films.
