I am half convinced that Prigozhin called off his coup attempt with a gun either at his head or the head of someone he cares about. Having him announce a deal was necessary to call off his troops. After that point it would have been very inconvenient for Prigozhin to remain among the living, especially in Putin’s client estate of Belorussia. What happens when Prigozhin, like so many of Putin’s opponents over the years shows up dead?
Update: Still alive:
If we never hear from/about him again, no surprise. If we find out exactly what happened, BIG surprise.
News last night said Wagner mercenaries were going to Belaruss with guaranteed inviolability. Russian nukes were recently transferred to Belaruss.
Some military experts described Moscow’s defenses as very weak, composed of police units and national guards. Conjecture is that Wagner Group is the superior unit Russia has and could have taken Moscow easily.
Prigozhin started and led Wagner. The highest general in Russia, and the general in charge of the offensive against Ukraine have failed. Who is going to survive?
Voronezh was where Prigozhin stopped his march. It is also the location of a nuclear warhead facility, Voronezh-45.
A Russian commentator is speculating that the merc leader just might have acquired an impressive life insurance policy.
Lord have mercy.
This is all beginning to resemble Dale a Tom Clancy novel, if Clancy had been using meth!
Genuine LOL, Don. Agreed.
Female Russian commentator tonight said it’s all theater to make Putin and his Army look weak so that the US and NATO will stop sending un-needed arms to Ukraine.
Does anyone buy that scenario? Of course the Russians don’t think like Europeans. More like Asians.
Does anyone buy that scenario?
Doubt it. Everyone is attempting to explain the inexplicable.
Wagner general owed money by Putin when Putin reneged on deal for assisting in Ukraine. Wagner showed his “muscles” by threatening to take Moscow. General backed down cause Putin “muscled” back.
This theory actually makes sense.
