You can add Native Americans and Black Troops to an unlikely mix who fought valiantly in WW II for this country. In my own company during Vietnam, our supply specialist was a Native American who was proud that his family did not sign up for any of the government tribal benefits they were entitled to. They wanted to be regard as full Americans with no special treatment.
