The dog whistle of Christian nationalism again. It’s getting tiresome.

“Christian nationalist” is a nonsense term propagated by Vichy evangelicals like John Fea. A well-versed evangelical I’ve encountered in fora like this offers that Fea and others needed a cuss term that they could use which excluded black evangelicals as a target, so they invented one. It doesn’t refer to any distinct set of denominations or theological schools. It’s all a rhetorical game. The editorial policy of Religion News Service has in recent years included liberally salting the publication with articles about a phenomenon that does not, in fact, exist. (The editorial line is also hostile to Israel these days).
I actually don’t recall this fellow. I remember Anthony Annett, the Irish economist at the IMF who had for some reason been shunted off to the publications department, whose thesis was that Catholic Social Teaching required we endorse a particular medical care financing scheme (which did not properly address any of the issues with financing medical care in this country). There was another very strange character who once had a position in the juvenile justice apparat in Texas (was Gerald L. Campbell his name??) and Sam Rocha, who has now landed in a faculty sinecure at the University of British Columbia. There was another fellow named Kyle Cupp who seemed to be some sort of graduate student in the humanities and a fellow from Morgantown, West Virginia who (if I recall correctly died some years ago at an abnormally young age). The blog was ultimately passed on to a crew of four people who were not among those with whom you and others used to joust and was hosted by Patheos.

The painting contractor on the reflecting pool project is located in a small town in Virginia and has half-a-dozen employees. It’s unlikely its owner is a friend of the President, Mr. Karlson’s imagination notwithstanding. It’s also unlikely the President decided on who the contractor would be.

Leftoid policy in our time is devoted to contrived injuries to social segments they despise. Leftoid discussion is devoted to avoiding acknowledgement of that.
liberal Catholics will eventually realize that apart from Christ they can do nothing but wither and die.
