I love miracles. Especially those which have unbelievers unable to explain. God is so great and so good.
Every sovereign person is a miracle. You want a miracle, go look in the mirror.
I used to give Confirmandi boys a book, The Incorruptibles, as a gift. Boys of that age were fascinated by the miracles, wierd stuff.
Gower, MO, is way off the beaten track. You have to intend to go there and you best need GPS and Google Maps to avoid easily losing your way on a wrong turn in the Missouri hinterlands .
Sr. Wilhelmina chose an isolated, tranquil tract of land in an area of gently sloping northern Missouri farmland—the middle of nowhere— to establish her traditional Benedictine nuns’ foundation, confident God was still speaking to hearts through the ancient ways.
It started as a very roughly appointed farmhouse with even more rough ramshackle outbuildings; which they quickly outgrew, and rebuilt. And they rebuilt. And they added on. And added on. And the streams of vocations still kept coming.
And they still added on. And yet still more energetic, generous-hearted young and some more mature women came. And so they built new purpose-designed buildings, because the stream of people wasn’t stopping; and then a magnificent domed basilica-style church, which you see suddenly rising out of the trees and sloping hills like a dream.
All because of Sr. Wilhelmina’s vision.
So the old magic still works. For those who believe nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).
