The ‘Ambassador for Gender Equality will no doubt include in her activities hectoring governments who do not fancy making life convenient for lesbians is a social policy goal.

Britain has had a Conservative government for 12 years. Or so I’m told.
Britain has a cacophony of problems (most which stem from its immigrants). However, the main issue Britain has is it has had a revolving door of Conservative PMs for the past 12 years. Since 2010, Britain’s list of PMs has included David Cameron, Teresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and now Rishi Sunak. Liz Truss barely lasted 7 weeks. Their issue has been unstable leadership since Brexit.
In contrast, Australian politics has always used prejudice against conservative Christians in power as a weapon to undermine Conservative leadership. Christian bigotry has been a key political weapon in scaring the general public against Conservative Christian candidates during election campaigns and during their time in leadership. Tony Abbott (2013-2015), a staunch Catholic and a friend of Cardinal Pell, had to navigate the media using his Faith against him on most key policy issues. He was called a misogynist on numerous occasion because he opposed the woman’s “right” to choose to have an abortion. Similarly, the smear campaign that the left used against Scott Morrison (2018-2022) in the last federal Australian election, was his preference to worship at a charismatic Christian megachurch, called Hillsong. I would say that was the hammer in the coffin for him when he lost the election last year. Albanese claims to be a Catholic of Italian heritage, but with World Pride Month coming up in Sydney in March, he will be the first Australian PM to openly March in the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. His deputy Penny Wong, as you know, is a loud and proud Dyke.
